Doctors meet Israel's first pregnant man

articlemain

Israeli doctors were astounded this week when a young male patient revealed that he was pregnant.

According to Ynet, the man had a sex change operation in the US and looks in every way like a man. However before his operation he opted not to have his reproductive organs removed.

The man, who is Israel's first ever transgender pregnant person, has two months until his delivery date.

He is married and is understood to work as a counsellor to Israeli teens dealing with their sexual identity.

Israel is known for its strong emphasis on rights for the gay, lesbian and transgender community.

In 1998 Dana International became the first winner of the Eurovision Song Contest to have had a sex change. She was born Yaron Cohen.
