Charedim flock to Ikea

Long referred to — jokingly — as one of the country’s main pilgrimage sites for secular Israeli families, Ikea is now also a destination for large groups of Charedi shoppers looking to snap up home supplies and furniture.

Charedi transport companies that have for years run buses to the graves of holy men have now added chartered trips to the Ikea branches in Rishon Letzion and Netanya to their repertoire. According to Ynet, one of these bus companies, Kav HaSimhot, has recently begun to operate a line from Beit Shemesh to the Rishon Letzion Ikea.
