Bryan Ferry to perform in Tel Aviv

articlemain

British singer Bryan Ferry is to perform in Israel next month.

The former Roxy Music frontman will sing solo at a Tel Aviv venue in April, in the same week that teenage star Justin Bieber takes to the stage in the city.

The show will take place almost exactly four years after Mr Ferry was forced to apologise for describing Nazi parades and art as “amazing” and “really beautiful” in an interview with a German newspaper.

His Jewish manager Steven Howard later said of the controversy that Mr ferry did not “have a drop of antisemitic or racist blood in his body”.

Mr Ferry’s announcement followed two performances by American singer Macy Gray in Israel over the weekend.

The star had faced a campaign by anti-Israel groups calling on her to boycott, which prompted her to ask her Facebook fans whether she should cancel.

She chose to perform anyway and on Saturday finished her act by donating a motorcycle with life-support and first aid equipment on it to United Hatzalah, an Israeli emergency response charity.

Ms Gray said it was meant "to save the lives of Jews, Christians, and Muslims" in Israel.
