Bomb scare on El Al flight

articlemain

An El Al flight from New York has landed safely in Tel Aviv after a bomb scare.

Two Swiss warplanes were scrambled to escort the Boeing 747 to Israel, where it landed on schedule, after aviation authorities had received an "anonymous tip about a bomb inside an airplane kitchenette" on board flight LY002.

Swiss authorities were alerted to the incident while the El Al plane was in Swiss airspace.

"An examination showed the plane was 'clean' and it continued its journey as usual,” said Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
