An online fundraiser to support the wife and children of an Israeli man killed in the West Bank on Sunday has raised nearly $1 million in less than a week.

The campaign for the family of Ari Fuld had collected just under $900,000 (£681,000) as of Friday morning, four days after the campaign was launched on the GoFundMe website.

The 45-year-old, who held American and Israeli citizenship, was a prominent advocate of Israel on social media.

He was stabbed to death on Sunday outside a supermarket in the West Bank settlement of Efrat, south of Jerusalem, where he lived.

Mr Fuld had four children with his wife Miriam.

His brother-in-law Martin Woolf, who lived with his wife in Manchester before making aliyah in 2006, said he wanted “to make sure everyone in the UK knows what a true hero Ari was”.

Mr Fuld’s youngest son is just before his bar mitzvah, he added.

The murder lead to outpouring of grief and tributes online. Thousands attended his funeral late on Sunday night, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu among those paying tribute.
