Kosher Marmite is back in London and Manchester after consumer campaign

KLBD approved tubs of the opinion-dividing spread will be available from kosher outlets

Kosher Marmite is now available again in London and Manchester thanks to consumer demand and the efforts of the KLBD kashrut authority.

The KLBD has worked with Unilever and its partners to produce a kosher-certified run of the spread, which will be available in 600g tubs. The kosher version will initially be identified by the words “KLBD Kosher” as part of the ink-jetted code on the yellow lid.

It will at first be available in kosher outlets and the KLBD anticipates that it will also eventually be stocked in wholesalers such as Costco.

Regular Marmite shares equipment with a non-kosher beef extract product. "However, this problem has now been avoided with the 600g size, which will shortly bear the KLBD logo on the label and be available nationwide."

KLBD director Rabbi Jeremy Conway was delighted that “after months of hard work, kosher Marmite will once again be available. KLBD would like to thank all the kosher consumers who took the time to write to Unilever – your efforts really did make a difference.”
