Lewis puts Hendon back on top

Greg Corin insists Hendon United are relishing next week's top of the table clash against title rivals Oakwood after they came from a goal down to win a 10-goal thriller against Redbridge.

These teams have a habit of serving up a treat and this was a repeat of the recent cup game - of a couple of years ago - when the goals flowed ... and Hendon came away victorious.

RJC forged ahead, but Hendon then stepped up a gear to lead 3-1 at half-time. The visitors opened up a 5-1 advantage before RJC netted twice. Hendon scored their sixth before the hosts completed the scoring in a morning to remember for the MGBSFL.

ZAC LEWIS was the hat-trick hero for Hendon, with striker partners Dov Fehler and Moses Seitler joining him on the scoresheet. Captain Ari Last, playing centre-half, completed the scoring for a Hendon team who finished the weekend at the summit.

Calvin Dickson, Kier Dickson, Elliot Black and Russell Goldstein registered for Redbridge.

Delighted Hendon boss Greg Corin told JC Sport: "It was a very important win for us in our pursuit for the league title. Redbridge year after year offer great competition and have a number of talented players.  Today we dug in, missing key defensive members of the squad and utilised our superb attacking talent to get a vital win.

"Although there were only two goals being the difference in the scoreline, I do think Hendon clearly deserved the win and were the better team."

Looking ahead to next weekend's crunch clash, Corin went on to say: "We take it game by game and we now can’t wait to face Oakwood next week which is a real six pointer. Hopefully we will have a number of players back available for this Sunday’s game and Moses Seitler with us.

"There are plenty of fantastic individuals in this Hendon team but we are working hard as a team which is really pleasing. Going forward we want to keep our defence much tighter and continue to let our forward talent flourish.

"It’s a pleasure to manage and play with some of this great talent. It’s now for the team to keep the consistency and the work-rate high and ensure when we’re in possession we play our exciting brand of football."
