PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND THREE

MANCHESTER MACCABI 2nd 3 BRADY MACCABI 1

A deadly double from Simon Lester (2) plus one from Jack Myers ensured Maccabi 2nd ran out worthy winners at the Co-Op academy and completed a cup double for the club - with their 1st team progressing courtesy of a 9-0 win over the Maccabi Masters Rep Team in Hatfield.

Jonny Rose, co-boss of Manchester told JC Sport: "It was fairly comfortable - the game was won in the first half as we were 3-0 up. We totally dominated, were very well organised and passed the ball well. Our plan was to win the ball high up the pitch and press Brady into errors, and it worked. The second half was about game management - we knew they would come out and attack, as they had to."

The victory means both Manchester Maccabi clubs have reached round four of the Jewish FA Cup for the first time.

Manchester joint-manager Stuart Delmonte told JC Sport: "It was a very good win. From front to back it was a very good team performance.

"It's fabulous for the club to have two teams in the next round."

Disappointed Brady boss Joel Nathan told JC Sport: "We had a very weakened team but made the journey in terrible conditions ... we didn’t help ourselves by going behind to two mistakes and then were in the wrong end of a dreadful decision by the officials just before half-time.

"We rallied in the second half and Stanley Offord scored after about 20 minutes and then missed an open goal, which would have got the nerves going.

"But in the end we ended up not being good enough on the day. Roll on to next week."

Asked who Manchester would like in the next round, Rose added: "It would be nice to avoid our 1st team and I would love to take the boys down to London for an away day."
