Freedman named top player for October

It’s been great to see some top young football talent emerging in the MGBSFL during the early stages of the season, with a handful of new names really catching the eye. Now it’s time to unveil my first monthly awards.

Reiss Mogilner, Adam Ellis, Zach Cohen, David Leiwy and Louis Naughten have been inspirational figures for their respective clubs. But the accolade of October’s best player goes to a midfield general who has been the heartbeat of the Los Blancos team.

Svi Freedman was described as “a real powerhouse” by Blancos joint-manager Joel Salomon following a string of excellent performances for the Division One team.

Freedman has starred in both matches in front of the JC cameras this season and scored a couple of “belters” in the wins over L’Equipe and North London Raiders B.

The top boss award goes to Avi Markiewicz of Faithfold A. He has inspired the Superhoops to five victories, including an impressive 4-1 triumph over Premier Division Redbridge Jewish Care A in the cup.

Look out for one of his inspirational half-time team-talks on our new football show, When Sunday Comes.

Jon Jacobs of Redbridge Jewish Care A, Joel Salomon of Los Blancos, Jeff Gotch of Catford & Bromley Maccabi, Daniel Holder and Alon Pinhas of Bayern Mincha and Aaron Dias of cup giantkillers Fairlop FC also received special praise for their excellent starts.
