BRADY MACCABI A 1 FAITHFOLD DOC MM A 3

The first half was completely dominated by the Superhoops and the pressure eventually told after Chaim Bordon flicked on a long ball to Ben Shirbini who sidefooted into the Brady net.

David Leiwy was causing all sorts of problems down the right and after skinning his marker, he played a perfectly weighted ball out wide to Louis Naghten. He still had it all to do but chipped the keeper wonderfully with the Brady keeper rooted to the spot.

Brady started to get a foothold in the game in the second half, without ever really threatening, as the Faithfold back four defended resolutely.

Eventually the Reds had a chance on goal from a set piece and it was headed into the back of the net by Jordan Nathan.

Faithfold remained calm and maintained a very attacking formation and in the final quarter, could have scored four or five hitting the woodwork and missing a couple of glorious opportunities.

Both teams were denied strong  penalty shouts but eventually Faithfold managed to score their third. Naghten found himself one on one with the Goalkeeper and he walked it round him and in to the back of the net.

Brady were awarded a penalty in the final minute for a shove in the back. The resulting spot kick was smashed against the bar and with that came the final whistle.

Jubilant Faithfold player-manager Avi Markiewicz told JC Sport: "We worked hard all over the field and I didn't have a shot to save the entire game, apart from the goal which was from a set-piece. This week we got the win our performance deserved."

Markiewicz insists there is room for improvement. He added: "We still need to be more clinical in front of goal as we could have had ten. Hopefully we can kick on next week in what should be a tasty match which sees last season's Division One champions up against the Premier champions.
