Despite struggling to raise a team all week, Fortune put in a great shift and were very unfortunate to lose a game they dominated in large parts.
Gid Caplin fired Fortune ahead with an excellent goal but the visitors came back with two goals to take home the points.
NLR boss Sam Rose told JC Sport: "It was a good win for us today in difficult circumstances. Our attitude wasn’t right first half and we were lucky to go in at half time at 1-1.
"But we regrouped second half switching to a 3-5-2 which helped us play more on the front foot. From then on we could have scored more had we been more clinical and really controlled the game.
"I was impressed with how the boys stood up for one another and drove us forward to win the game, even if they weren’t all playing in their preferred positions.
"We go to our final game of the season next week against Fairlop looking to give a really good account of ourselves."
Proud Fortune joint-manager Darren Zitren told JC Sport: "Darren: "Gutted! We dominated and went 1-0 up. We battled so well and Jonathan Pressman, Eric Lewis and Josh Taylor were class in particular. Lee Fegan was class too in goal.
"It's gutting to lose but there were so many positives."
