Five-star Raiders C crush Cats

North London Raiders C inflicted a first defeat on leaders Catford with a stunning 5-1 triumph courtesy of strikes from Alex Goodman, Josh Green (2) and David Esterkin (2).

NLR boss Sam Rose told JC Sport: "If I had any doubts pre-game about whether my team were still up for the fight this season, those doubts have firmly been put to bed.

"A fantastic attitude from the players this week. Appreciate Jeff saying he had a depleted team but Raiders had five players who had to pull out after the squad was announced and we only fielded 11 players.

"But when you show the desire, commitment and accountability we showed this week, then any result is possible. Even beating the team that was previously unbeaten and top of the league. I told you Caro, don’t count us out yet.. !”

Catford player-manager Jeff Gotch told JC Sport: "We got murdered, with the better team on the day taking advantage of a depleted squad. We move on."
