Richard Salmon and Adam Rones were also on target as Team climbed into the top three.
Team stormed into a 4-0 lead, with Young's second the goal of the game - a stunning counter-attack.
Catford, to their credit, did not let their heads drop and goals from Mitch Green (2) and Jason Shoffman set up a grandstand finish. But it was FC Team celebrating at the end.
Delighted FC Team player-manager Mitch Young told JC Sport: "It was a very positive result.
"We were extremely comfortable at 4-0 up until the 70th minutes with five minutes of madness saw them score three well-taken long-range efforts and it ended up being a nervy finish.
"But overall we deserved the victory and I was happy with how we played and probably should have scored more goals.
"It sets us up nicely for a must-win game next week against Mill Hill."
Catford player-manager Jeff Gotch cut a frustrated figure and told JC Sport: "The level of officiating was laughable – I very rarely moan but a long-throw that went straight in is clearly not a goal and two of the other three conceded were a mile offside.
"Anyway being 4-0 down with 20 to go with 10 men and rallying to 4-3 and even having chances to snatch something shows we can fight.
"I’m disappointed that I had eight drop-outs from Thursday to matchday and only having 11 players didn’t help.
"FC Team have a long throw and a hoof ball over the top, bar that there useless."
