What is it?
It's kitchen towel, Jim, but not as we know it. This resembles a column of stacked paper cones. The first new format for kitchen towels, say Ora's makers, for nearly 100 years. (Who knew?)
What does it promise?
What Ora promise is that you will be able to pluck each round sheet from the stack with only one hand. No need to tear and no risk of soaking the entire roll with your soggy hands as you fight to remove a sheet. It's also perfect for those forbidden from tearing on Shabbat.
What does it do?
Nothing more exciting other than make life easier. And ring the changes.
Does it work?
I inwardly sneered when the press release dropped into my inbox, but was drawn in by a cheesy promotional film, showing a smiling couple cooking up a messy storm and smugly mopping up with their Ora towels. I had to try it out, and what do you know, it works. Every sheet lifted off smoothly.
Must have or maybe not?
Yes. It's a must. Not cheap at £1.89 a roll, but each one has the same number of sheets as two tear-off rolls. Apparently more sheets per roll means less packaging and lower delivery costs, making it more environmentally friendly than its old-fashioned friends. Plus, I love the round sheets. The obligatory quibble? It doesn't fit on my kitchen towel holder.
