Zubari moves a step closer to Rio Olympics

articlemain

Shahar Zubari won the medal race at the RS:X World Championships in Eilat to move up to sixth place in the overall rankings.

With only one berth per nation available in the sport for the Olympics, Zubari finished well ahead of Nimrod Mashiah in 27th place, and is almost certain to represent Israel in Rio.

Zubari said, "I'm not disappointed because the opposition was tough but perhaps I missed an opportunity to do better."

In the women's competition, Noa Geller finished 14th, ahead of her more experience compatriot Maayan Davidovich in 19th.

Israel excelled in the women’s under-21 competition where Hadar Heller won the silver medal and Noy Drihan took bronze.
