articlemain

Amir Weintraub’s Wimbledon dream is over for another year after going down in the first round of the qualifiers.

The Israeli went down in straight sets against Bjorn Fratangelo of America in less than an hour.

There was also disappointment for Julia Glushko who fell in similar fashion at the AEGON Open.

She succumbed to injury trailing 4-3 in the second set against another American, Jessica Pegula, who took the opening set 6-1.

Italy's Camila Giorgi eased through 6-2, 6-2 against Christina McHale of America.

Shahar Peer begins her challenge later today, while Dudi Sela is guaranteed a place in the main draw at Wimbledon.

He beat Daniel Gimeno-Traver in the first round in Nottingham before bowing out against 7-5, 6-4 against Uruguyan Pablo Cuevas.

Diego Schwartzman slipped to defeat against Aljaz Bedene in round one.
