U18 footballers going for gold, says Zamet

articlemain

Simon Zamet believes gold is a realistic target for Team Maccabi GB U18 Football at next month's European Maccabi Games in Berlin.

Zamet and Adam Klein are co-managers of the squad featuring a number of starlets with experience of playing at a high level. These include London Lions starlets, Nick Barnett and Zachary Rose, and the likes of Josh Davis, Louis Greenham, Max Russell and Aaron Spalter, all of whom have previously represented Team Maccabi GB in some capacity.

Zamet, said: “We are very excited about taking this group to Berlin. It is a mix of some well-established names and new faces who are being given the opportunity to shine.

"We are looking for the more experienced players to help us mold the group and we also expect one or two of our new faces to step up to the plate and make a name for themselves on the international stage.

“Obviously, we want to go all the way and our aim is to win gold. The odds perhaps may be against us, especially with a strong, German team playing on home soil, but the mood in the group is focused and determined.

"Adam and I will also be making sure the boys make the most of their time at the European Maccabi Games – it will be an incredible experience, especially as we get to mix the social and historical aspect amongst the sport, and we’ll be making sure to tell them to enjoy every moment."
