Three through as Raiders lose again

articlemain

In the Henry Swerner Maccabi Masters League Cup, sponsored by Tux’n’Tails, three more teams made it into the quarter-finals, with the outstanding result being Glenthorne As 3-2 win over top-of-the-table North London Raiders courtesy of goals from Eliot Mullish (2) and Micky Nathan.

EDRS Stonegrove outgunned Clayhall 7-1, with goals from Phil Silver (3), Barry Silkman, Steve Krieger, Mark Kingston and Nigel Conway. Brian Deal scored Clayhall’s consolation.

London Maccabi Lions B swept aside Pel City by 5-1, thanks to goals from Howard Freeman (3), Grant Fox, and Immanuel Ezekiel. Andrew Cohen scored Pel’s solitary reply.

In the League, the only game of the day saw Norstar go back to the top of Division Two after a win over Temple Fortune B. Greg Bradman and Steve Jakar had given Norstar a deserved 2-0 lead at the break but Jeremy Fess pulled one back early in the second period, only to see the two-goal cushion restored by Danny ‘Bonzo’ Myers, with his first ever goal for Norstar. Fortune responded, with guest Geoff Green scoring with a 20-yard shot, but an own goal sealed a 4-2 win for Norstar.
