JC GOAL OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- SIMON BUCHLER (NL Raiders B) - won the ball 30 yards out, spotted the keeper off his line and floated the ball over him and in to the net

- RICKY LAWRENCE (NL Raiders B) - Buchler won the ball centrally 30 yards out, and spread play wide to Rob Blackman who clipped a delightful cross to the far post where Jake Gilbert had peeled away, the striker cushioned a header back in to the path of Ricky Lawrence who powered home

- SAMUEL LEADER (Bayern Mincha) - 35-yarder on weaker foot into roof of the net

- JAKE DAYAN (Bayern Mincha) - half-volley scissors-kick

- ROB COHEN (Brady Maccabi) - superb 25-yard free-kick from left hand side of area that evaded everyone

- KAI VALE (Fairlop FC) - GOAL 1 - beautiful left foot wand of Kai's hit the ball from 25 yards and smashed it into the top corner

JC SAVE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- DAN LEE (Redbridge JC A) – SAVE 2 – even better, instinctive, reflex save to keep out the rebound

- BEN LAW (NL Raiders B) - produced an outstanding low save to his right to keep things level at the break

JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- THE FAITHFOLD ULTRA CHANTING "Can we play you every week"...

- JOEL NATHAN (Brady Maccabi) - "I would like to say thank you to the Lions physio Jeremy who looked after Rob when he got injured which helped calm him down considerably as he was in a lot of pain"

- SAM MARCHANT (ML Lions Blue) - "I want to wish Rob Cohen a quick recovery from an injury he picked up today and hopefully it’s not as bad as first feared"

- AARON DIAS (Fairlop FC) - QUOTE 1 - "It's getting expensive handing out the match balls, that's 3 in 2 weeks now"

- AARON DIAS (Fairlop FC) - QUOTE 2 - "Congratulations to Big David Farkash making his debut for the club, was superb in the middle, controlled the game for the entire 12 minutes he was on the pitch"

- AARON DIAS (Fairlop FC) - QUOTE 2 - "Gutted to see Redbridge A go crashing out the cup, was hoping that we could have been the team to knock them out 😉 "

- RAFI ADDLESTONE (Real Hendon) - “It seems that young Perl (and perhaps his manager) chose to spend the high holy days in the hairdressers, rather than in contemplative self-reflection"

- ELLIOT CUKIER (Straw Hat Pirates) - "Danny, I've said it before and I'll say it again, when we turn up to a game, we are a force to be reckoned with. And today, when for the first 30 minutes, they couldn't string a pass together in our half, we showed that! Yet another title contending team, yet another experienced team who have played together and know each other. And yet again we put it an outstanding performance. They scored a freak goal. For the majority of the game, we dictated it"

- SAMMY ASSIL (Straw Hat Pirates) - "Who are all these random guys coming to watch us play football? (them being the dads of our players)"

Richie Caplin snatched a consolation for Redbridge who were reduced to 10 men after Ben Sollosi was sent off in the first half. Keeper Dan Lee had earlier kept RJC in the game with a penalty save.

Jubilant Faithfold player-manager Avi Markiewicz told JC Sport: "We won because we worked hard, we filled in, we never got on each others back, we played as a team and we played for each other, and in the end that was the difference."

BRADY MACCABI 2 MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE 0

Reiss Mogilner (pen) maintained his goal-a-game record and Rob Cohen netted from 25 yards as Brady Maccabi returned to winning ways as they overcame stablemates Lions Blue 2-0 at Rowley Lane.

Jubliant Brady joint-manager Joel Nathan told JC Sport: "Today, unlike last week, we turned up and didn't let a good MLL team settle." The win was marred by an injury to goal-scorer Cohen and Nathan added: "The the boys battled and resisted everything MLL could throw at them and came out deserved winners.

Lions boss Sam Marchant told JC Sport: "We knew today would be a tough match and it proved to be just that. It’s slightly frustrating to play a top division team so early in a cup competition but to win these competitions, at some point you have to beat the best."

MACCABI LONDON LIONS WHITE 2 REAL HENDON 1

James Gershfield's Lions earned their first win of the season thanks to goals from Kiki Levin and Jordan Levy but they were given a scare by second division Real Hendon at Rowley Lane.

Lions boss James Gershfield told JC Sport: "Real Hendon put in a great shift and were very organised from the first whistle. They defended well and the longer the game went on it seemed an upset could be on the cards."

Real's Rafi Addelstone told JC Sport: "We did ourselves proud, the boys fighting tooth and nail for the shirt. On another day, we could have won the game - the Lions' finishing and fitness proving just too much for us in the end."

LOS BLANCOS 5 FAITHFOLD B 2

Los Blancos eased into the second round of the cup after beating Faithfold B 5-2, but only after a first-half scare.

A shock looked on the cards when JJ Marrache and Solomon Rabson gave Faithfold a 2-0 lead at the interval. But a deadly double from Simon Moses, plus one apiece from Oli Sade, Svi Freedman and Tim Heynes steered Blancos to victory.

Blancos joint-manager Joel Salomon told JC Sport: "The boys showed a lot of character - they were a tough team to break down but Los Blancos continued with the game plan and deserved the victory off an excellent second half.”

Faithfold player-manager David Garson told JC Sport: "We were excellent for the first 50 minutes and deserved to be winning. We just run out of puff at the end. If we play like that we should be comfortable this season."

DC Prediction: Blancos 4 Faithfold 0

Delighted Fairlop boss Aaron Dias told JC Sport: "Another great day at the office for the mighty Fairlop - it took a good 120 minutes to get the first goal but once that beautiful left foot wand of Kai's hit the ball from 25 yards and smashed it into the top corner the win was never in doubt."

HERTSWOOD VALE 2 BAYERN MINCHA 3

Adam Herszaft, a goal-of-the-week contender from Samuel Leader and a spectacular winner from skipper Jake Dayan saw Bayern Mincha secure their third win of the season after edging a see-saw affair against Hertswood.

Bayern joint-manager Alon Pinhas told JC Sport: "It was a very important three points and an amazing performance from all my boys. I couldn't have asked for much more from them."

Edan Dodi and Josh Cohen netted for Hertswood and joint-manager Jacob Emanuel told JC Sport: "I’m not sure how we came away with a loss in this one. In fairness to Bayern Mincha, they were decent but we had more than enough to match them."

MILL HILL DONS 1 CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI 3

Catford condemned Mill Hill Dons to their first league defeat, with Jeff Gotch's men brushing the Dons aside 3-1.

After a cagey opening Catford took the lead from a prodded effort from Joel Lassman. It remained one nil until 20 mins to go and then they equalised from a corner. The game was in the balance but a couple of late changes made the difference as Jeff Gotch and Richard Winton both got their heads on the end of it to score.

Cats player-manager Jeff Gotch told JC Sport: "A great win today and a good performance. On to a huge game next week against Fairlop and we all can't wait."

STRAW HAT PIRATES 1 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 1

Improving Straw Hat Pirates picked up a precious point after holding title hopefuls Raiders C for whom Alex Sherr found the net, with man-of-the-match Ben Rosen replying for the Pirates.

Pirates manager Elliot Cukier told JC Sport: "Yet another title contending team, yet another experienced team who have played together and know each other. And yet again we put it an outstanding performance. They scored a freak goal. For the majority of the game, we dictated it."

NLR boss Sam Rose, who missed the game, told JC Sport: "I'm really pleased to see Alex back on the scoresheet, he's worked hard and deserves reward for his endeavour. Whilst some may see this as two points dropped, we've actually had a difficult week availability wise and I think we'll see this as a really important point come the end of the season."
