JC GOAL OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- DANNY SHERMAN (Scrabble FC) - on 80 minutes on the edge of the penalty area and on his own surrounded by defenders Danny turned and made a powerful run towards goal leaving the defenders beaten and then unleashed an unstoppable shot into the top corner

- BRETT SCHUMAN (Boca Jewniors) - Jamie Leboff found Shuman in space at the back post from a corner, to allow Schuman to volley home and guarantee the Boca faithful were left celebrating

- JJ Marrache (Faithfold B) - created by Dan Abrams with a sublime 'sombrero' flick over himself and the defender which led to *JJ Marrache*'s neat header into the corner well beyond the keeper's reach

--------------------------

JC SAVE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- JOSH CORIN (RC UK FC) - Cross came in and Redbridge attacker inside the six-yard box was unmarked hit it towards goal but Josh somehow managed to reflexively get a strong palm and keep it out

JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK: THE CONTENDERS

- SAM ROSE (NL RAIDERS C) - "Raiders' revival continues. That’s two wins on the bounce for us. But we know there’s still work to be done and we have to keep improving - we can’t be anything less than 100 per cent"

- RAY ABRAHAMS (Scrabble FC) - "As I've said in the past, we've had some tough early season games and now we have the chance to clinch a promotion place if we are consistent. This win takes us to within a point or two of second spot and the spirit in the group is very high at the moment"

- SEFTON MONK (Boca Jewniors) - "We have tried that corner routine 30-40 times a training session, and believe me they go near the M1 than the goal, so hats off to Brett, the first time one goes on target, he gets his token worldly for this season"

HERSHKORN AT THE DOUBLE FOR CAMDEN

SPEC FC 1 CAMDEN PARK 3

Camden Park registered their second triumph of the season to climb to eighth in the table following a 3-1 win over basement battlers SPEC FC, thanks to goals from Rob Hershkorn (2) and Jake Saunders.

Daniel Pike registered for SPEC.

SPEC FC boss Ricky Lawrence told JC Sport: "It was a good game and up until the red card it was a decent advert for the league with two teams playing the game in the right spirit. Unfortunately the red card ruined that, however the remaining players saw out the game in the correct fashion and while Camden deserved the win, I felt we gave a good account of ourselves."

SUPER SHERMAN DOWNS BAUMS

SCRABBLE FC 4 ATHLETIC BILBAUM 0

A deadly double from Danny Sherman helped Scrabble FC climb into fourth spot after over-powering Bilbaum 4-0.

There were also goals for teenager Zac Summerfield and Rob Blackman as Ray Abrahams' men got their promotion bid back on track.

Scrabble manager Ray Abrahams told JC Sport: "We were terrific today and but for some fine saves by the Bilbaum keeper and the woodwork we might have got double figures."

SCHUMAN LEAVES VALE DOUBLED UP

BOCA JEWNIORS 2 HERTSWOOD VALE 1

Boca completed a league double over Hertswood thanks to second-half strikes from super-sub Sam Simon and Brett Schuman.

Manager Sefton Monk told JC Sport: "Hertwood’s Goalkeeper and ex-Boca player Yaakov Goldin was absolutely superb today. I think if it wasn't for his outstanding heroics this game could have been put to bed in the first half."

Commenting on Brett Schuman's wonder goal, he added: "We have tried that corner routine 30-40 times a training session, and believe me they go near the M1 than the goal, so hats off to Brett, the first time one goes on target, he gets his token worldly for this season."

Hertswood joint-manager Jacob Emanuel told JC Sport: "A delayed kick-off - by almost an hour and a half - due to a frozen pitch meant that we weren't able to see out more than 83 minutes of the game. It's for the league to decide now how they wish to take this further. It would be a terrible injustice to the MGBSFL to not allow all the games to run the full 90 minutes because of poor logistics regarding pitch times."

RAIDERS REVIVAL CONTINUES

FAITHFOLD B 2 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C 4

North London Raiders C climbed into the top six and joined Faithfold B on 17 points following a 3-1 win, thanks to strikes from Ashley Davidson, David Rhodes, Jonny Blain and Scott Waissell.

JJ Marrache and top-scorer Richard Fogelman found the net for Faithfold.

NLR boss Sam Rose told JC Sport: "Raiders revival continues. That’s two wins on the bounce for us. But we know there’s still work to be done and we have to keep improving - we can’t be anything less than 100 per cent."

Disappointed Faithfold skipper Josh Barnett told JC Sport: "We win as a team and lose as a team. Any individual mistakes are team mistakes, simple as. We were not sharp at the back or in front of goal today. Things just didn't click into place."

Josh Hambling's boys produced a defensive master-class in front of the JC cameras at 7 Kings High School.

Hambling told JC Sport: "We should of scored a couple more in truth but a win with a clean sheet against a top team in the league I couldn't ask for more."

Disappointed RC UK boss Avi Markiewicz told JC Sport: "Today we simply weren't good enough. Redbridge did have the advantage of being able to call upon a couple of higher team players but that's no excuse on our part. I'm not sure we strung three passes together over the entire course of the game and we had very few if any clear-cut chances."
