YOUR WEEKEND PREVIEW STARTS HERE:
CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP QUARTER-FINALS
HENDON UNITED SPORTS vs MACCABI LONDON LIONS WHITE
Hendon tackle Lions White for the second time in a week, with a place in the League Cup semi-finals on the line.
The Reds will be missing some key players for the visit of the cup holders, who look to have come into form at just the right time.
Yoav Kestenbaum, Zac Lewis and Avi Korman registered for Hendon in last Sunday’s thrilling league encounter which finished 3-3. Two of the three scorers will be missing this weekend.
Boss Greg Corin was disappointed his team failed to hold on to a 3-1 lead but he was delighted with the performance of former Player of the Year Dan Howard. A major coup the club kept quiet.
Ahead of Sunday’s cup clash, Corin told JC Sport: “It will be a tough game and we are short on numbers again, which is very frustrating, but hopefully we can put in a performance and get a win.”
James Gershfield is giving youth a chance this season. After a slow start, things look to be coming together nicely, although I have a feeling he may draft in some experienced faces for the Hendon game.
Gaffer Gershfield saluted midfield maestro Josh Shack for “dominating midfield” against Hendon last week, and he chipped in with two goals. Josh Weiner grabbed the other. James Gold also produced an excellent all-action display.
Winning a Sunday competition remains high on the list of priorities for Lions. They weren’t afraid to roll out the big guns for the cup final last season and I can see them flexing their muscles again to get past Hendon.
JC team news: Hendon are missing Larry Cohen, Avi Korman and Yoav Kestenbaum. Rocky Spitzer returns and they are hoping for another appearance from Dan Howard. Ben Lauffer is expected to return to play against his former club.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
HENDON (from): Russ Corin, Arthur Caplin, Mordi Weiler, Alex Rosenthal, Josh Bentley, Ari Nevies, Dudi Edreyi, Dan Howard, Ari Last (capt), Greg Corin, Ben Lauffer, Rocky Spitzer, Josh Harris, Zac Lewis, Yishai Last

LOS BLANCOS vs CAMDEN PARK
Los Blancos will fancy their chances of registering an upset when they host top-flight strugglers Camden Park – with a place in the last four against Oakwood, Brady and Hendon or Lions up for grabs.
Joel Holder’s troops claimed a memorable victory in Essex last weekend, with Simon Moses’s last-ditch strike earning the points.
The result halted Blancos’s worrying run of form and it’s important for all concerned that they finish 2017 in style.
Boss Holder told JC Sport: We will be hoping to play as well as we know we can and get into the last four. We aren’t scared of anyone."
Camden were second best against Lions Blue last Sunday. Manager Stirling Kay is doing his best with a limited pool of players who will need to pull out all the stops against talented opposition.
Camden have failed to score in their last four matches and if they go behind on Sunday, their fans will be fearing the worst.
JC team news: Luke Strauss, Tim Heynes and Joe Davis return to Blancos team, with Avi Kestenbaum having a late fitness test.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
BLANCOS (from): Gideon Rabstein, Josh Aziz, Joel Barnett, Marc Woolfe, Jake Doffman, Svi Freedman, Tim Heynes, Gav Krieger, James Kutner, Avi Kestenbaum, Elliott Maslawy, Joe Davis, Daniel Sinclair, Josh Mizrahi, Alex Lewis, Josh Laurier, Simon Moses, Oliver Sade, Luke Strauss, Joe Zender

MACCABI LONDON LIONS BLUE vs OAKWOOD A
Having secured a place in the last four of the League Cup, Oakwood will be looking to finish the weekend above Lions Blue – with three points the target.
Josh Cuby has become an firm favourite with Oakwood fans since joining a couple of months ago and he produced a five-star display in the hard-fought win over Raiders.
Joint-manager Dan Kristall described Cuby as “unplayable” in a performance where he scored one and set up another.
It was an important victory for Oakwood following back-to-back defeats. Kristall believes the title race is wide open and he would have been impressed by some of the results the Lions have picked up this season.
Sam Marchant’s boys put Camden Park to the sword 4-0 last week, with goal-poacher Josh Bloom helping himself to another two goals.
Former Player of the Year Liron Mannie made a goal-scoring return to action following his Far East adventure and is another player Oakwood will need to watch.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
LIONS (from): James Harpin, Sammy Kingston, Daniel Fattal, Daniel Behar, Ben Winters, Nathan Anders, Jordan Aspis, Nick Barnett, Charlie Cohen, Adam Abadi, Ed Brafman (capt), Benji Weinberger, Jono Gaon, Josh Bloom, Michael Kenley, Zac Linden, Zach Perez
OAKWOOD (from): Joe Botchin, Harvey Kaye, Lee Warner, Alex Lee, Dale Bradman, Luke Brookner, Toby Levy, Kyle Bentwood, Tom Cantor, Kyle Bentwood, Dan Rose, Simon Davies, Daniel Taylor, Dave Woolman, Leor Sidle, Jonny Quinn, Dave Cohen, Jake Bentwood, Rafi Stone, Luke Brookner

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A vs NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A
Redbridge have two tough tests before the year is out, starting with Raiders on Sunday. Then it’s on to Rowley Lane to take on Lions White the following week. Four points has to be the target.
The east Londoners are raring to go after back-to-back defeats, as they look to get back on the winning trail.
Even when all their big guns are available, I still feel Redbridge are one or two players short of a title-winning side. Someone with a bit of magic, aka a Daran Bern or Dean Nyman.
They have enjoyed some classic battles against Raiders over the years, and Sunday will be no different.
Dan Shafron is confident NLR’s luck will change but he knows there’s no tougher place to win that at Fairlop, on a cold, dark Sunday morning.
He was happy with the performance and effort levels in the 3-1 defeat against Oakwood. They played with real purpose and cutting edge and could have come away with a draw on another day. Rob Blackman and David Esterkin caught the eye following call-ups.
Ahead of kick-off, Shafron told JC Sport; “Despite our last two results in particular, we are starting to find confidence in our game again and we are hoping to finish off our calendar year with another positive performance.
“Redbridge have had some mixed results so far but there’s no doubt that they are still one of the top sides in the league when on form and we’ll have to be at our best if we want to come away with any points.”
Nathan Sollosi has been one of Redbridge’s top players in the big matches and he will be looking to reproduce his form from the Brady game. But the hosts will need 8s and 9s across the pitch if they are to get the result they so badly need.
JC team news: Alex Kaye (groin), Josh Morris and Joe Meisel (both ankle) join Alex Moss, Matt Stock, Ben Ellis, Alex Bloch and Adam Gold on the busy NLR treatment table. Jordan Nathan and Joe Cohen return to the squad.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
REDBRIDGE (from): Dan Lee, Jay Jaffa, Ross Weintraub, Danny Berg, Sam McCarthy, Adam Hakimi, Danny Hakimi, Craig Sandford, Richie Caplin, Brad Frankel, Adam Shafron, Ben Sollosi, Sam Sollosi, Nathan Sollosi, Scott Oldstein, James Berkley, Nate Kashket, Russell Goldstein, Daniel Garfinkle, Steve Summers, Aaron Goldberg
RAIDERS (from): Adam Zaidman, James Ross, Zack Neiman, David Cohen, Josh Goldstein, Elad Hertshten, Joe Cohen, Adam Joselyn, Ben Joseph, Jonny Kay, Oscar Wagner, Alex Moss, Jordan Abrahamson, Dan Shafron, Rob Blackman, Dave Esterkin, Jake Gilbert, Oren Sheldon

DIVISION ONE
FAITHFOLD A vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE C
Faithfold are proving an immovable object this season. Seven wins out of eight for Avi Markiewicz’s men, who have the look and feel of champions. But he knows nothing is won before Chanukah.
They passed a major test last weekend, coming from 0-2 and 1-3 down to beat promotion rivals Scrabble. Their performance in the second half was simply breathtaking.
Wing wizard David Leiwy was at his scintillating best, leaving a trail of Scrabble players in his wake. Some looked as though they were still recovering from a night on the tiles.
Leiwy’s futsal skills came to the fore. The boy is a superb technical player, with a low centre of gravity. It was a no-brainer choosing him as my Player of the Week. He has been performing to a high level on a regular basis and must be an early contender for Division One Player of the Season.
The absence of Louis Naghten and Ben Shirbini did not hurt Faithfold, who showed great strength in depth on the day. Debutant David Kizneris was in sparkling form too.
Mitch Hahn has featured in Redbridge’s last couple of game. He’s much more than a lucky mascot but it’s no coincidence they’ve won them both.
Both Hahn and Ashley Rubin were at their devastating best against Temple Fortune last weekend and revenge will be on their minds following Faithfold’s recent 3-0 success at Fairlop.
Faithfold have turned the Hive into a fortress this season and Redbridge will do well to stop Markiewicz’s well-oiled machine.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
FAITHFOLD (from): Ben Gabay, Leor Harel, Joe Gordon, Avi Mocton, Gideon Caller, Avi Garson, Jonny Leiwy, Eli Shebson, Dovi Vogel, Aron Luftig, Jonny Gahan, David Leiwy, Louis Naghten, Avi Markiewicz, Sam Zerovabeli, Chaim Bordon, Ben Shirbini, Zalmy Cohen, Akiva Solomon, Gav Lewis
REDBRIDGE (from): Ben Rosenthal, Martin Sales, Martin Zartz, Sam Zartz, Dave Green, Jamie Danan, Jason Patmore, Adam Kemper, Jerome Marks, Darryl Green, Alex Aviram, Lee Cutler, Harrison Midda, Lewis Rackham, Ryan Silkman, Seth Warner
Venue – The Hive, Ref – Luke Steele, KO – 10am

DC Prediction: Faithfold 2 RJC 1

OAKWOOD B vs TEMPLE FORTUNE A
Jason Stein insists complacency won’t be an issue for his Oakwood team ahead of the visit of lowly Temple Fortune.
A trip to promotion rivals Scrabble follows Sunday’s meeting with Fortune and Stein is dreaming of a six-point Chanukah.
He told JC Sport: “It was a shame not to be able to play against L’Equipe last week. They’ve been a mainstay of the league and I wish them all the best. I’m sad they’ve folded.
“Despite our good form we won’t be taking anything for granted this week. It was only a few weeks ago they took North London Raiders A to extra-time. And while we beat Temple Fortune 3-0 in October it was far from easy.”
Stein’s boys are playing with fire in their bellies and they will be relishing the prospect of taking on a Fortune team low on confidence.
Stein went on to say: “We’ve got two games before the break and we’re bang in the title race. We’re playing well and spirits are high. So we can afford no slip ups this week. I expect the lads to be professional and positive and get the job done. No excuses.”
The less said about Fortune’s 9-1 defeat against Redbridge C the better. The performance certainly won’t make Simon Linden’s DVD collection. In simple terms, they couldn’t live with Mitch Hahn, and struggled to get to grips with Ashley Rubin.
The return of striker Ben Isaacs was a sight for sore eyes. No surprise he scored their consolation but assuming he is available, he will need to drop really deep to affect the game.
On paper this looks like a home banker and I can see thing panning out much the same way on 4G.
JC team news: Daniel Selwyn and Dan Ash will be the wing men on Sunday while I’m hoping Daniel Seligman will complete the attacking triumvirate after a good stint in the A-team. Ben Feingold, who has been a revelation in central midfield in his first season, is absent so we’ll find a new partner for James Frener. Dan King will captain the side at centre-half.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
OAKWOOD (from): Ben Buck, Dani Derrison, Ilan Scorah, Ben Feingold, Jake Frener, Dan King, Dan Linton, Ben Loofe, James Abrams, Dan Seligman, Ben Lewis, Dan Ash, Dan Selwyn, Sam Modlin, Jordan Sherne, Rafi Bloom, Max Clynes, Jacob Richler-Kleiman
FORTUNE (from): Philip Small, Lee Fegan, Lee Hyams, Jonathan Cohen, Ranana Firmin, Adam Speck, Brett Stead, Michael Goldberg, Michael Woolfe, Eshed Rahav, Connor Brand, Jason Lindsay, Gab Stone, Simon Linden, Dan Vandermolen, Ben Isaacs

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B vs SCRABBLE FC
Redbridge fans felt their team were mugged by Los Blancos last week. Joel Holder’s troops produced a real smash and grab and won it with virtually the last kick of the game.
Paul Biller and Carl Dobrin had put RJC in pole position but they were punished for failing to add a killer third.
Redbridge have been far from convincing this season and they will need to perform for the full 90 minutes for the visit of Scrabble.
We saw the best and worst of Scrabble last weekend. Rupert Wood must be pushing for a place in the starting line-up after his brace against Faithfold. Not even a defensive master-class from the evergreen Steven Moss could keep the leaders at bay. And you just had to feel for goalkeeper Dan Beresford at the end, as the Superhoops peppered his goal with little intervention.
Manager Ray Abrahams knows his team won’t be up against the quality of David Leiwy every week. But he just hopes Mitch Hahn doesn’t make a surprise appearance. That might just leave him having sleepless nights right now!
It was good to hear Abrahams address the late red card last week. He’s hot on discipline and the north-west Londoners will need to play with cool heads in a pressure-cooker atmosphere.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
RJC (from): Brad Grant, Dan Adelman, Paul Biller, Dan Andrews, Jon Fialka, Dan Lassman, James Law, Scott McKenzie, Dan Lipman, Elliot Coulton, Adam Noble, Sam Rank, Antony Cope, Josh Hambling, Dan Gordon, Jacob Kaye, Carl Dobrin, Richard Rosenthal
SCRABBLE (from): Dan Beresford, Jonny Mervish, Oli Richardson, Amit Kahana, Dan Green, Ben Cantopher, Lorian Madanes, Adam Newman, Adam Waters, Rupert Wood, Josh Pugh, Rob Rodney, Zac Summerfield, Dan Goldhill, Zac McLeod, Ben Krieger, Ben Bowers, Craig Cole

DIVISION TWO
BAYERN MINCHA vs FAIRLOP FC
Bayern Mincha cited the absence of several key players as the reason for their heavy cup defeat at MGBSFL table-toppers Brady Maccabi last weekend.
Joint-managers Alon Pinhas and Daniel Holder are determined to put things right after a bit of a blip, during which time they’ve conceded plenty of goals.
Speaking after the Brady game, Pinhas told JC Sport: “We know we’ve not been on great form over the last month or so but the boys are all up for our upcoming fixtures and know we need to make things right.
“Hopefully the scorelines in our games to come will show that we are still up there challenging for the title.
“We won’t give up until the end and we are confident of picking up good form again.”
There are no easy games for the Bayern boys who find themselves in a difficult moment and there’s no doubt they will be asked questions by a talented Fairlop team.
Aron Dias’s troops have the firepower to challenge any team. I don’t expect them to have special plans to deal with the threat of MGBSFL top-scorer Adam Ellis, who scored the consolation against Brady last week, following an “Alonso-esque pass” from Josh Levy.
Fairlop know what they have to do to get themselves back in the promotion mix. They have plenty of match in hand and it’s important they look at things one game at a time.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
BAYERN (from): Joseph Nyman, Nathan Hanan, Rafi Terespolsky, Sam Leader, Josh Levy, Matan Ozin, Akiva Fink, Alon Pinhas, Harry Salter, Adam Ellis, Eli Davila, Daniel Holder, Joe Metliss, Shmuel Leader, Allon David, Sam Kanter, Josh Levy, Sammy Liebert, Benjamin Albert, Nick Cooper
FAIRLOP (from): Scott Shear, Adam Goldman, Kane Wise, Max Freedman, Ryan Cole, Daryl Rubin, Matt Berkeley, Daniel Bean, Kai Vale, Brad Gayer, Daniel Rosen, James Jaconelli, Brad Porter, Jacob Sanders, Pierce Prince, Joel Russell

FC TEAM vs MILL HILL DONS
There’s a mouth-watering game in store here as title rivals FC Team and the Dons go head to head.
Mitch Young’s men were described as “useless” by Catford manager Jeff Gotch last weekend, but Young laughed off any criticisms about his side who clearly played to their strengths.
Young knows that maximum points would see FC Team finish the weekend top of the table, leapfrogging the Dons in the process.
FC Team often waste little time in getting the ball forward but their fourth goal – scored by Young – was as good a counter-attacking goal you are likely to see at this level.
Young saluted his centre-back pairing of David Grossman and James Korn, despite a late wobble against Catford. But they will have their hands full with Zach Cohen for company on Sunday. Cohen is very similar in style to Team front man Richard Salmon.
The Dons have worked tremendously hard for their two-point lead at the top going into this game. Confidence is high but boss Brandon Hamme knows Sunday will be a true test of their credentials.
He told JC Sport: "After last week’s pitch fiasco, the boys are desperate to get back in action. Sunday’s game is an a huge one, the boys are fully aware of the magnitude of the match and all the implications that comes with it.
"A loss on Sunday would put FC Team top, however a win would put us six points clear. FC Team were the team favoured by many pre-season to win the league.
"We know from our last time out against them that they are very good, strong, physical side. We played extremely well on the day to get the win and we know we will have to be at our best to come away with three points again on Sunday.
"This is our first of two crucial title clashes before the winter break and it’s essential we try to come away with at least something from this game."
The battle between Josh Cinna and Salmon will be worth the admission fee alone in a match that you won’t be able to take your eye off.
JC team news: The Dons head into Sunday’s game light on options in defence, with Adam Lisberg, Sam Kahn and Adam Morrow all unavailable. Ryan Kramer, who picked up an injury in the 4-0 win over Bayern two weeks ago, is a doubt.
TEAM (from): David Gordon, Jamie Breslaw, Eitan Ben-Zion, Jon Breger, Dan Breger, Danny Moss, James Korn, Marc Hecht, James Milman, Adam Rones, David Grossman, Jamie Breslaw, Eddie Sternberg, Mitch Young, Richard Salmon, Dylan Young
DONS (from): Oli Burchell, Richard Reback, Adam Ben-Harosh, Josh Cinna, Sam Demby, Harry Moss, Jamie Nagioff, Nick Phillips, Adam Isaacs, Ryan Kramer, Zach Cohen, Harry Kalms, Brandon Hamme, Joel Sinclair-Horne, Jordan Rinsler, Sam Denby, Josh Moses, Adam Diamond, Joseph Reece, Jason Weldon

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C vs FAITHFOLD B
Raiders C were back to their best when they hit Real for six on Matchday 14.
Hat-trick hero Alex Elf enjoyed one of those days where everything he touched turns to goals. Ben Kaye moved into double figures (and must be due some kind of bonus!) in a performance filled with flair and class.
Faithfold would not be beaten last week. They battled back against the Pirates three times, with Tony Plaskow rolling back the years with a quality double.
David Garson was delighted by the character shown by his Superhoops last weekend but they could struggle with the pace and movement of a free-flowing Raiders team.
JC team news: Faithfold fans will be disappointed to hear that Tony Plaskow looks set to return to Raiders’ Masters team for the trip to Scrabble at Hatfield.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
RAIDERS (from): Joel Macadar, Alex Goodman, Matt Keston, David Domb, Adam Levenson, Sam Roth, Eyal Samovich, Joel Levitt, Callum Stein, Ricky Zeiderman, David Esterkin, Liam Stein, Ben Kaye, Nick Haringman, Alex Elf, Jonny Blain
FAITHFOLD (from): David Garson, David Garson, Mike Patterson, Josh Barnett, Ben Kfir, James Stanton, Yosef Brownson, Stuart Haring, Josh Martin, Ben Portnoi, Yitzy Hill, JJ Marrache, Rob Cohen, Yidy Gertner, Dan Yoss, David Kerzneris, Moishi Lewis, Nick Roman, Alex Weinfeld

REAL HENDON vs TEMPLE FORTUNE B
Temple Fortune will be aiming to finish the weekend above Real when the teams meet for the second time this season.
No doubt, Real’s 6-0 win over Fortune will be mentioned in Darren Zitren and Steven Black’s pre-match teamtalk, but the visitors have improved since then and they will be relishing the return leg.
Two wins in Fortune’s last three outings tells me things are changing for the better. They have some big personalities in the changing room and they will be looking to give as good as they get.
Real have suffered heavy defeats in their last three outings, with 15 goals flying in. But they remain dangerous opponents for anyone in the division so I’m not sure Fortune should read too much into it.
Five-star entertainment is on the cards and I’m predicting an end to end affair.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
REAL (from): Raffy Zysblatt, Ben Cohen, Ben Goldberg, Martin Smulovitch, Doron Shooter, Gilad Kestenbaum, Lolu Hibbert, Joe Goldberg, Zvi Noe, Hezzie Raymond, Motty Korman, Chaim Gothold, Adam Hersh, Lloyd Kafton, Gali Kolt, Chaim Strom, Gav Noe, Harley Patoffs, Jono Marks-Bluth
FORTUNE (from): Anthony Beilin, Jacob Kalms, Josh Klepper, Adam Lenz, Eric Lewis, Gab Saul, Oli Segal, Gideon Wetrin, Darren Zitren, Sam Barth, Adam Jacobs, Josh Taylor, Zach Goodman, James Phillips, Jon Pressman, Dan Krieger, Simon Cohen, Sam Sicurel

STRAW HAT PIRATES vs HERTSWOOD VALE
The Pirates suffered a sucker punch when they conceded in the closing stages against Faithfold last week.
Saul Tiano, Jono Nesbitt and Ben Mandell produced superb displays, with Aron Gale scoring the goal of the game.
But as good as they were going forwards, manager Elliot Cukier would’ve been frustrated about how open they were at the back at times.
“It should have been our game,” he told JC Sport. “We battled hard for 90 minutes and have very little to show for our efforts. That should have been a win for us, and we only have ourselves to blame.
“We know we have to move on, and are looking to pick some points up between now and Christmas!
Hertswood had a fantastic result against Raiders C last time out. They played with a combination of freedom and discipline and more of the same will be the instruction from joint-manager Jacob Emanuel and Danny Hirschberger.
That result showed the players what they are capable of as one cohesive unit. And the best thing about it was the smiles that greeted them at the end of the game. It made all the blood, sweat and tears all the more worthwhile.
But the challenge now is to do it again. And again. And again.
It’s hard to call a favourite on Sunday so let me finish by saying may the best team win.
POSSIBLE SQUADS:
PIRATES (from): David Wolinsky, Jake Yudelowitz, Sam Assil, Matt Cohen, Sam Cohen, Jono Nesbitt, Aron Gale, Gideon Gale, Solly Ishack, Ben Mandell, Jono Nesbitt, Joel Newman, Saul Tiano
HERTSWOOD (from): Joni Hirschowitz, James Neidle Gal Alkalay, Josh Cohen, Simon Englander, Yehuda Fink, Theo Gluckstein, Josh Gorb, Harry Graham, Ashley Hirschburger, Sammy Huberman, Adrian Leibovitch, Jonty Schogger, Ben Chiltern, Danny Feuer, Jack Shulman, Josh Cohen, Simon Englander, Jordan Harris, Michael Elia, Isaac Segalov
