Sri Lanka Tel Aviv go top with big win

Sri Lanka Tel Aviv lengthened their unbeaten run to four games, to move clear at the top of Division One of the Israel Day Cricket League with maximum points.

Petah Tikva have been finding life tough in the top flight, and Saturday was no different as they slumped to a 108-run defeat to the Lankans, dismissed for 117 in pursuit of 225.

In Division Two action, Lions Be'er Sheva were too strong for Tel Aviv at Hadar Yosef on Friday, bowling out their hosts for 68, Israel Maccabiah hopeful, leg spinner Ronen Waskar taking four for 12, after themselves being restricted to a par score of 140.

In Saturday's action, Eilat remain the team to beat in Group A, picking up their third win from three games with a three-wicket win over Lod in Eilat, chasing down their 139-run target in 32 overs.

In Ashdod, former Israel under-19 captain Safania Nagavkar top scored with a classy 66 as Dimona C reached 182. Ashdod A replied with just 112, Abraham Lincoln taking three for 30.

In the other game of the weekend, Young Sri Lanka eased passed Kiryat Gat, chasing down their meager 94-run target with four wickets in hand.

This Friday sees table-topping Sri Lanka Tel Aviv looking to make it five out of five when they take on Ra'anana CC who were blown away by Lod Rangers last week.

With the Maccabiah around the corner, the current Ra'anana batting line up, consisting of five training squad members, Daniel Hyman, Josh Evans, Matt Hoffman, Dani Hotz and Herschel Gutman will be hoping for an improved batting display to push for a place in the final Israel Cricket squad.

On Saturday, Young Ashdod, who have made a disastrous start to the league, will be hoping for the their first win of the season against Petah Tikva.

National team and Young Ashdod captain Raymond Aston will be expecting a much improved display from his star studded line up.

There's also the Lod derby on Saturday when Lod Rangers, fresh from a victory over Ra'anana, come up against champions S.Lions Lod, who suffered a loss to SLTA two weeks ago, while in Division Two, top of the table Dimona A host second placed Ashdod A.
