articlemain

Donald Sanford has been added to Israel’s Olympic squad following his excellent performance at the European Championships.

The American-born sprinter had looked set to miss out on the London Games, but received a reprieve after the Israel Olympic Committee added him to the squad.

Sanford, 25, missed out on a medal at the Euros after finishing fourth in the 400m. The athlete is married to an Israeli and was only approved to represent Israel in March.

He said: “I’ll run as if it were my last race.”
