The awards evening always signifies the end of the season and this year's event was as joyous as ever. It is always good to see all the 'achievers' together collecting their accolades. There was a good mix of the multi-teams and single team clubs, all of whom play such an important part in the league.
I also enjoy watching the look on the faces of the individual winners, who do not have a clue that they have won the award, come up to the stage to receive their trophy.
We now have to move on to next season. I know that there are a few teams who will not be continuing for various reasons but there are also some new ones knocking on the door.
I would imagine that we will end up with a similar number of teams as the season just gone but the league is still in a very healthy position.
The sponsorship of the league is now in limbo but I hope that we will be able to be more positive about this in the near future.
The next event will be the European Maccabi Games in Vienna in July and I hope you will join me in wishing all the participants well and bring back plenty of medals.
Just a word about West Ham. I am very sorry that we got relegated but believe me, from first-hand experience, we had a disastrous season and just were not up to it for a multitude of reasons. We now have to knuckle down to our status in the Championship and hope we can return to the top flight, where we belong, as soon as possible.
I hope you all have an enjoyable summer and I hope to see you next term.
Wishing you all well.
