SOUTH MANCHESTER SPORTS 3rd 0 REICH INSURANCE RANGERS 3
Joseph Mann and Ben Burton helped Reich Insurance Rangers heap further misery on rock-bottom South Manchester Sports 3rd.
Mann (2) and Burton ensured Reich jumped up the table as they look to finish their season on a high.
Reich’s director of football Mike Gaswirth said: “There’s still plenty for us to play for. It’s about finishing the season strongly. We feel if we can field our strongest team we are a match for most.”
Meanwhile, Oakhill Lions have been rewarded with a 5-0 win over Manchester Maccabi Yellow for last year’s hotly-disputed abandoned game.
In November, Anton Radiven’s men pulled his players off the pitch in protest at the playing conditions with his side trailing 5-0 after just 22 minutes.
A misconduct charge followed and the Manchester County FA awarded the points to Oakhill.
They also issued Maccabi Manchester Yellow with a £25 fine and five disciplinary points – the minimum punishment they could dish out.
After resulting a personal hearing, MJSL chiefs ignored the evidence put forward – much to the club’s frustration.
Tony Gellman, the chairman of the club’s senior sector, said: "We have reluctantly accepted the decision of the anonymous MJSL panel.
The three-man panel didn’t not ask for our views or did not consider our evidence.
"We were appalled they came to that decision under the circumstances."
