Raiders stun Manchester

articlemain

North London Raiders A caused the shock of the day in the fourth round of the Peter Morrison Trophy. They hammered former winners Manchester Maccabi 1st 4-1 courtesy of a hat-trick from Adam Posner and one from Ben Sheldon.

Posner put the Maccabi League Division One outfit ahead with a dipping volley in the first half. Rafi Leker hauled Manchester level early in the second period with a strike that cannoned in off Raiders defender Joe Tankel. But Sheldon and Posner struck to put the Raiders into the quarter-finals.

Raiders boss Adam Fegan commented: “I’m proud of the team for what was a near-perfect performance. We had 14 heroes and every single person played out of their skins.”

Manchester boss Dave Nadler said: “Raiders fully deserved to win but we defended dreadfully. Adam had his team well organised. I wish them well for the rest of their campaign and I hope they can progress.”
