Plastic will be fantastic for London Lions

articlemain

London Lions will conclude the most successful season by opening a full-size, floodlit, G3 astro turf at Rowley Lane.

The first team achieved its highest ever finish in the Herts County League Premier Division while the junior section featured a record number of medal winners throughout its eight competitive age groups.

“We started the season with our greatest number of teams in the top three divisions of the Watford Friendly and West Herts League,” said committee member Danny Schindler “and we were looking for a season of consolidation, so the degree of success throughout the teams has been quite remarkable.

“In total four of our teams ended the season as champions of their league, three as runners-up, two cup winners and two cup runners-up,” added Schindler.

“The Under Nine section was particularly strong but with our Under 18 team also winning their league, the honours were spread throughout the section.”

Schindler attributes success to the commitment of the managers, the professional coaching scheme and the excellence of the facilities.

“Our main objective continues to be to provide Jewish youth with the best possible experience in playing sport. The new astro turf pitch will help us take that experience to the next level.”

London Lions trials take place on June 7 and 14. For details, go to www.londonlions.com.
