Perfect 10 inspires Neasden

London Maccabi Lions A 2-3 North West Neasden A

Darren Yarlett was full of praise for his Neasden team who clinched their place in the last four of the JC Cyril Anekstein Cup after knocking out last season's winners in a game they played with 10 men for 75 minutes.

Player-coach Yarlett was in charge of the team as manager Jamie Cole was in Las Vegas. He limped off with a hamstring injury but masterminded a hard fought win from the sidelines.

A late strike from Lee Cash, his second of the game, plus one from Ben Ellis took Neasden through.

Pete Lazard and Ben Joseph were the marksmen for the Lions.

Yarlett said: "I'm over the moon as the odds were stacked against us but we soldiered on and to come away with a deserved win is exceptional.

"The whole side played like warriors. Lions could not live with our fight and determination.

Lions manager Eilon Kennet said: "We made endless chances but just didn't take them."
