Shahar Peer's victory at the Israeli Open Championships was marred by an ugly incident in her semi-final win over Deniz Khazaniuk.
Peer, ranked 74 in the world, beat 18-year-old Khazaniuk, who had previously criticised Peer’s Federation Cup performances and described her as a "fake."
Peer refused to shake hands with the teenager and called her an "embarrassment to her country."
Peer went on to lift the trophy after avenging last year’s defeat by Julia Glushko.
There was a shock in the men’s final where Amir Weintraub beat Dudi Sela.
Meanwhile, 12 year-old Ishay Ulliel from Ramla won the Junior Orange Bowl boys title in Florida, beating Patrick Sydow from Aruba 6-3, 6-1.
He becomes the first Israeli to win a major children’s event since Peer won the under-14 Orange Bowl in 2001.
