Israel made a winning start to the tennis competition after Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich won a tight first-round match in the doubles competition at Wimbledon.
The Israeli duo beat Spanish pairing Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (73) to move into the second round.
Ram and Erlich served three aces compared to the Spaniards' four and had a first-serve percentage rate of 55 compared to 74, but their experience held them in good stead as they progressed.
They could face Swiss pair Roger Federer, the Wimbledon men's champion, and Stanislas Wawrinka in the next round.
Shahar Peer's latest Olympic adventure begins on Centre Court today when she takes on former Wimbledon champions Maria Sharapova.
