Neasden's nine-men out of FA Cup

articlemain

North West Neasden’s dreams of becoming the first Jewish team to win the Sunday FA Cup were quashed as they lost a 10-goal thriller against Sungate in the last 16.

Having lost in the LFA Sunday Challenge Cup last week, NWN let slip a 2-0 and 4-2 lead in a tie they finished with nine men.

James Gershfield, Lee Cash, Danny Daggers and an own goal accounted for the NWN goals. Jake Gottlieb and Tony Keterman were sent off. Neasden received in the region of £1,700 for their cup run.

Hendon United B climbed into third place in the JC MSFL Premier Division after beating Glenthorne United A in a double-header. Alex Neiss was Hendon’s matchwinner in part one. The Reds followed that up with a 3-0 success, courtesy of strikes from Chaim Gothold (2) and Amit Dinowitz. Central defender Natan Weisenberg was in top form over both games.

A superb strike from Trevor Henen earned Montana Boca United A their third win of the campaign as they beat Division One leaders North London Raiders A 2-1. Jonny Blain put Raiders ahead in the first half, slotting home after Jacob Gold saw a shot cannon off the post. Montana levelled on the stroke of half time when Simon Peterman’s long-range strike deflected into the net.

Promotion-chasing Temple Fortune played out a goalless draw against Rapid Banta in Division Two. Nineteen matches were postponed due to frozen pitches.

Glenthorne United A are the second Premier Division to fold this season, it was announced at the mid-season meeting on Monday night. They follow Bafana Bafana who withdrew several weeks ago, to leave the top-flight down to eight teams and the league with 50. AC Cricklewood, North West Neasden C and South Manx B closed down earlier in the campaign.
