PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND THREE
KING KASLER BLOWS BLIZZARD AWAY
BLIZZARD STORM 0 MACCABI LONDON LIONS A 4
CHARLIE KASLER was the hat-trick hero as the Lions eased into round four at the expense of Blizzard Storm.
Josh Kennet completed the job for a strong Lions team who featured former Arsenal starlet Austin Lipman.
MLL manager Andy Landesberg told JC Sport: "Whilst the result indicates a comfortable win, this wasn't a classic performance by the boys."
Blizzard boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "I'm proud of my team who gave everything against a very strong Lions side. For 60 minutes we remained in the cup tie - we held our own and with the score at just 1-0 we certainly had a chance."
DC Prediction: Lions 3 Blizzard 0

YOUR WEEKEND PREVIEW STARTS HERE:
PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND THREE
HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs SPEC FC
David Garbacz was smiling like a Cheshire cat after the third round draw, delighted that his Hendon team avoided the likes of Raiders, Redbridge, Oakwood, Lions and Manchester Maccabi.
The visit of first division SPEC FC is one that realistically they would expect to win nine times out of 10, but Garbacz knows the pressure is all on his players to produce – the performance and result.
Garbacz told JC Sport: “We are expecting a tough cup tie against a team with nothing to lose and the one thing we must guard against is any complacency.
"We know very little about our opposition and I’m sure they will compete extremely well, but as long as we make sure our own performance is up to scratch as it has been recently then they will need to play extremely well to cause an upset.
"We are the proud holders of this cup and we are looking to have another successful run this year as well.
"We are slightly depleted and some players may have their eyes on the early Arsenal kick-off, but we intend to put in a decent professional performance and are confident that we should be good enough to progress.”
SPEC FC earned a good point against Woodford Wanderers last week, but player-manager Ricky Lawrence knows Sunday will be a totally different proposition.
He told JC Sport: “"Hendon are the holders, the favourites and I imagine everyone assumes we're just going to make up the numbers.
"It's up to us to try to give them a decent game and you just never know ..."
SPEC FC will huff and puff but in the end Hendon will come away with the result they need.
JC team news: Hendon are missing Alex Rosenthal, David Seitler and Yoav Kestenbaum. Everyone else “should be” available.”

HEATON PARK ROVERS vs FC TEAM A
The cup competitions can keep FC Team A’s season alive, although they can take nothing for granted on Sunday.
Ben Gilbey’s boys are still on course for a cup double, although holders North London Raiders lie in their way in the semi-finals of the Cyril Anekstein Cup. So for me, the Morrison offers them their best route to a final this season.
Shim Bensoor has been in sparkling form this season and with big-hitters Yoav Lebens and the Weisz brothers for company, they will be looking to muscle their way through.
Heaton have had a disappointing season to date. They lie second from bottom in the Manchester Jewish Soccer League, althoug the form of striker Jonathan Franks will give them home.
But on Sunday manager David Seligman needs a big team effort as they look to reach the latter stages for the first time.
Home fans will also be looking for something special from the likes of Alex Swift, David Taylor and Joe Copeland but assuming they are near to full-strength, I think that Team will hold all the aces on the day.
Venue – Childwall

DC Prediction: Rovers 1 Team 3

LEEDS MACCABI vs OAKWOOD A
There will be a real derby feel around Squirrel Way as Dan Kristall goes up against his former club, Leeds Maccabi.
Kristall took a leaf out of Jose Mourinho’s book and left the club in a trail of glory after guiding Leeds to the MJSL treble last year. But he hasn’t looked back since his big-money move down south.
He told JC Sport: "When the draw was made, I couldn’t believe it as only six months earlier I was managing Leeds in a truly amazing 14/15 season where we achieved a clean sweep.
"Leeds Maccabi is a club who I hold close to my heart and over the years has done some amazing things for the Leeds Jewish community. It was in fact it was my late father, Howard Kristall, who managed the first Leeds Maccabi under-12 team back in the late 90’s, and my brother Adam will be playing for Leeds on Sunday.
"However, on to the main issue and the game on Sunday. It is all about my new team advancing to the next round of the Morrison - a competition that we firmly believe we can win, but we must overcome this very tough hurdle.
"Weather dependent, we look forward a very tough test on a pitch which will be a real leveller at Squirrel Way."
With four ex-Leeds Maccabi players in the Oakwood squad – David Woolman, Dan and Josh Rose, Brad Wine - the game certainly has an added spice to it.
Kristall added: "The Leeds Maccabi team includes many good friends although I know that are keeping their team news tight-lipped. I do expect them to ‘bring in some ringers for the game’ but whatever side Leeds put out, they will raise their game and with home advantage, we know how that this will be a very tough tie.
"Ric Blank will be travelling up to Leeds, having come down from his Ivory Tower and I will be making sure that there is enough water to go round!
"We look forward to what will be a fiercely contested match against a good Leeds side who we expect will be very fired up.
"Valentine’s Day and a 200-mile trip up north is not the best combination, but we are confident in the players that we have available, that we’ll have enough to advance to the next round."
James Warner has done an excellent job since taking over the reins from Kristall, with Leeds winning six out of seven in an unbeaten start to their league defence.
Leeds are averaging more than three goals a game and have only conceded three times in seven matches, but Warner knows this will undoubtedly be his biggest test yet.
A bumper crowd is expected as the likes of Nick Vale, a hat-trick hero already in 2016, Johnny Goldstone, John Saffman and Rob Selwyn go in search of a major scalp.
There will be no pressure on Leeds on Sunday but I can see one goal being enough for Oakwood.
Venue – Squirrel Lane, KO – 1pm

DC Prediction: Leeds 0 Oakwood 1

HARMEN vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A
Double-chasing Redbridge will be looking to end Harmen’s silverware hopes for the season when they make the trip to north-west London.
Jon Jacobs’s men have been a breath of fresh air this season and are making an excellent fist of pushing Raiders for honours.
Sam Sollosi was the hero for the east Londoners against Lions last week and they are raring to go again. Sollosi has lit up the MGBSFL this season and last season’s Young Player of the Year is a leading contender for the main award. The Premier Division is a much better place with him in it.
RJC have taken four points out of a possible six against Harmen this season, with Daniel Garfinkle and Steve Summers registering in both games so they will go into the game with the psychological edge.
Jacobs, who is without several key players, told JC Sport: “We will still have a strong side, but the squad is creaking a bit right now. We will probably flood midfield and use our pace.”
Harmen are in last chance saloon following their heavy defeat against Lions last time out.
A high-octane affair is on the cards in a game where discipline and keeping 11 men on the pitch is key. He who dares wins.
JC team news: Harmen look set to be without the suspended James Gershfield.
RJC will be missing two key forwards, with Dean Nyman on a romantic break and the evergreen Steve Summers on a family break. Jason Goldstein is still injured from the Hendon game, while Jordan Sapler is still suffering medial ligament damage.

BRIXTON OLD BOYS vs WOODFORD WANDERERS
Woodford could and probably should be several points clear of the chasing pack.
Last week, not for the first time this season, they allowed a winning opportunity to pass them by as SPEC FC pegged them back to a 2-2 draw. Managers Daryl Kay and Jerome Marks were not best-pleased.
They have told their players in no uncertain terms that if they want to be playing Premier Division football next season that they must shape-up or shut up.
Dropped points and soft goals could come back to bite them in the tuchas, and to make matters worse, they were this week ordered by the MGBSFL Management Committee to replay their match against Brixton – that they won by a landslide – after fielding an ‘ineligible player’ in the original fixture on November 8.
Woodford are strong in all areas of the pitch; goalkeeper Ben Rosenthal is one of the finest outside the Premier Division, while Mitch Hahn needs no introduction. Tom Alexander has given them a new dimension this season while James Ryan has hit top form. So they can go to Clowes with nothing to fear.
Joint-manager Daryl Kay told JC Sport: "The boys know that last week wasn’t good enough and Jerome and I have had words with the players that we felt didn’t pull their weight.
"I said a couple of weeks ago that we can’t afford to carry anyone in this team, so whoever doesn’t perform won’t play, simple.
"We go up against Brixton knowing that nothing less than a win isn’t good enough, and with us still leading the pack, the rest are playing catch up. We just need to make sure they can’t catch us."
Brixton have made big strides since the aforementioned meeting and I expect things to be much closer this time.
They beat the same SPEC FC team who drew with Woodford last week 3-1 at the end of January and cannot be under-estimated.
They have been scoring goals for fun of late and will go all out for a major scalp.

FAITHFOLD B vs NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B
Faithfold B and Raiders B have both experienced problems this season, pulling out of matches for various reasons. So let’s hope football is the winner on Sunday and there are 22 players on the pitch at kick-off.
This is now effectively a relegation six-pointer and I didn’t think I’d be saying that at the start of the season. I cannot believe, given their personnel, that Raiders are down there but it’s surely a matter of time until they pick up the two or so wins they need to secure Division One football next season.
With players of the calibre of Adam Posner, Danny Bloom, Jake Gilbert and Jacob Gold they are surely too good to go down.
The signs, however, have been looking ominous for Faithfold for several weeks now. I'd heard rumours of a Chinese billionaire consortium planning a takeover bid but that is all it was.
Faithfold huffed and puffed against FC Team last week but finished ultimately well beaten.
Another heavy defeat would come as a real body blow.

REAL SOSOBAD vs BRADY MACCABI
Brady are one of four teams who can win the title. But Josh Dagul’s troops can take nothing for granted ahead of the long journey to Real Sosobad.
Meeting the east Londoners for the first time, Brady will be looking to finish the weekend in top spot and repeat the level of performance they put in against Redbridge last week.
Reiss Mogilner is in unstoppable form at the moment while the calming assurance of Jordan Nathan will lay solid foundations.
Brady were dominant in the second 45 last week but Dagul will want them to pace themselves in what could be a game of cat and mouse.
Dan Shafron’s Sosobad will be looking to string back-to-back league wins together for only the second time this season.
They haven’t had things their own way against the division’s top teams and will no doubt be looking to make a statement of intent.
It’s already been an interesting week at the Soso HQ as goalkeeper and captain Scott Shear has completed his transfer to Essex rivals Redbridge JC. Shear was ever-present between the sticks playing 100 per cent of Sosobad’s competitive games.
Manager Dan Shafron told JC Sport: “Scott was an excellent servant to the club, very committed and always reliable. Redbridge have signed a very good goalkeeper and I would like to wish him all the best."
Shafron and Hambling have announced that the new captains will be Dan Lassman and Sam McCarthy. On their appointment, Shafron added: ‘Lass and Macca were the obvious choices for us. They have been a revelation this season and leaders on and off the pitch.”
Looking ahead to Sunday, Shafron commented: “We welcome Brady this week for our first meeting ever meeting with them. From what I’ve seen, they are an excellent young side with threats all over the pitch, in particular their striker who has had a fantastic season so far.
"We are looking to bounce back from last weekend’s cup defeat and start causing some upsets in the league.
"Once again we dominated the first 45 minutes and we have to learn that a game of football lasts double that amount of time.
"We can’t walk off the pitch at half time thinking a job has been done just because we’ve played well.
"The boys have to focus and stay disciplined right until the very last minute and if they do that, we will be a real force.”
If Brady have a smooth journey and show the right attitude and application from the off I can see them winning by a couple of goals.
JC team news: Josh Jacobs will line-up in goal for Sosobad.

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B vs FC TEAM B
FC Team just seem to get better and better and their front major goal threats – Richard Salmon and Danny Moss have been outstanding.
Add the free-scoring Jon Breger, Adam Rones and Andy Sheena into the mix and you have quite some unit. The future looks bright.
Having finished in seventh heaven against Faithfold B last week, they face a big test against Redbridge team who fancy themselves against anyone on their own patch.
RJC B have been busy in the transfer market this week. Manager Sam Rank unveiled “the impressive goalkeeper” Scott Shear from noisy neighbours Real Sosobad. Shear has been described as “one of the top stoppers in the MGBSFL” and will make his debut for the club on Sunday.
Rank told me that the players “have been working extremely hard in training on a couple of different points” following the 4-1 defeat against FC Team, “and hope to demonstrate practice makes perfect on Sunday”.
He told JC Sport: “Moving on to Sunday, we are aware how good the FC Team B are, especially Richard Salmon.
However, our squad is full of quality, and I am very confident of a big result.
The timing of Shear’s move is something that interests me. Why now, especially with Sosobad higher in the table.
He conceded three to FC Team in the colours of Sosobad last month and a similar fate is on the cards on Matchday 22.
JC team news: The RJC squad are issing David Cohen and David Dobrin, but David Fialka Has returned from a scouting trip to Germany.

ATHLETIC BILBAUM vs L’EQUIPE
The Baums will be looking to replicate last week’s terrific performance against Catford when they host L’Equipe.
Nick Shinder’s boys know that victory would take them to within one point of Sunday’s opponents and that will be the target on Sunday.
Bilbaum shared the goals around last week, with Ed Green (2), Ben Bell (2) and Jacob Brunner all finding the net. They played terrific, high-tempo football and simply blew the Cats away in a stunning exhibition.
Mark Smith was L’Equipe’s match-winner in the first meeting with Bilbaum this season. He fired a treble, with James Mandell grabbing the other in a thriller.
A passionate affair is on the cards, but I sensed some frustration in the voice of L’Equipe manager Nick Stern ahead of the rematch.
He told JC Sport: “Firstly wanting to say a big thank you to our opponents and ref for agreeing an early kick-off time to accommodate the Arsenal season-ticket holders in our club, as well as those armchair fans that now want nothing more than seeing Leicester win the league
"I stressed how this and only this would be a good enough excuse to miss the game rather than Valentine’s Day, but it seems some people are putting their loved ones ahead of L’Equipe, which is definitely a shame when we all bleed orange, Gideon Chain you know what you are ...
"We are quite depleted this week which is a real shame. Bilbaum had a phenomenal result last week so we know that we needed a full squad to compete but this doesn’t look like it will happen. I won’t go into details but if you know of a keeper, striker or centre half then that would be appreciated.”
"However I do know that the XI that we will put out will do the shirt proud. We have been so, so unlucky in recent weeks and our performances have not been reflected in the scoreline which is a real shame. I know one win will lead to three or four in a row and I hope that it comes this weekend.”
If L’Equipe afford the Baums time and space to play, they will be punished.

MACCABI LONDON LIONS B vs FC TEAM C
The Lions have games in hand on all the teams around them, but manager Samuel Marchant will be reminding his squad to take it one game and look no further than FC Team – a potential banana skin.
Ed Brafman, Josh Bloom and Daniel Mattey registered when the Lions won the away leg, but I suspect things will be a little tighter second time around.
Team were down to the bare bones that day and David Gordon told me they will be determined to give a better account of themselves on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to JC Sport, Gordon said: "Unfortunately Valentine’s Day has meant we are left without our four married players – make of that what you will! It’s also taken one or two more players away, who clearly don’t wear the trousers, and we will be weaker for it!
"However, we’ll still put out a team that can compete with Lions and this will be the biggest test we have had for a while.
"We are on an unbeaten run and Sunday will be a test to see how far we have come since we last played them."
The fact that the Lions are packed with some young, free and single batchelors means they will surely hold all the aces on super Sunday.

REAL HENDON vs CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI
Bouncebackability is the name of the game for the Cats this weekend as they look to get the Bilbaum result out of their system.
It’s taken manager Jeff Gotch a good few days to get over the 5-0 mauling and I’m expecting a big reaction against Real.
Whatever could go wrong did go wrong against the Baums, but I think we’ll see a very different Catford on Sunday.
Gotch told JC Sport: “Well after last week’s disappointment of losing 5-0 - our heaviest loss of the season - after being on a good run dating back to October, I wasn't sure what to think. We were totally outplayed and out-fought and that's the first time that has happened this season.
"We gave up without even trying to get back into it - it was a real wake-up call - as results have suggested we are capable of beating anyone in our league on our day, but have to do it against the so-called lesser teams and not just the top few.
"This week we play real Hendon. I didn't enjoy the first meeting against them when the game was a stalemate for a long period and then they took control in the last half hour and scored a couple of good goals.
"We know we can beat them so we have to go back to basics and fight for 90 minutes.
"I pride my team on the fact that before last week we had one of the best defensive records across all the leagues and that is where we have to start. If we keep it tight and give nothing away then our odds of winning increase.
"Regarding my squad, I had no less than seven players declaring themselves AWAY this week which really angered me as it feels like we lose a game like we did and they don't want to make it right. But the 14 I do have will be ready and up for the battle on what is going to be a heavy pitch down in west Hendon. We haven't played on grass since November so it could be interesting.
"It’s been an interesting first season for us as a new team with an old name and we always knew that our first year would be a learning curve.
"I've got a lot of young lads and they have done well and we have gelled and now it's time to show it consistently.
"Sorry for the rant but I've been up and down all week thinking about last Sunday and wasn't sure whether I could go on, but the thought of a cold wet Sunday morning back at west Hendon on a mudbath was too much to walk away from!
"I've been in Jewish football for 17 years and this being my first year of management has been really enjoyable and I've learnt a lot and to still be playing every week and somehow scoring goals has made it all worthwhile."
Real go into the game in second place but it appears only a matter of time until the teams in and around them overtake them.
Rafi Noe and Chaim Gothold earned them a 2-0 win over the Cats in November and they will be confident of a repeat performance.
I'm not so sure though …

TEMPLE FORTUNE vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB B
Although Sunday is Valentine’s Day, in case you had forgotten, there will be no room for sentiment as Hendon boss Adam Glekin goes head-to-head with his former club.
They will be looking to finish the weekend in second place as they attempt to build on the excellent comeback against L’Equipe.
David Reid must surely be pushing for a place in Glekin’s starting XI. He was their game-changer against L’Equipe and already looks like he’s been part of the furniture for years.
Fortune’s difficulties have been well-documented of late but once that first whistle blows, manager Jonathan Cohen will be concentrating on the task at hand.
He told JC Sport: “Well with Sunday stupidly early KO of Arsenal vs Leicester on Sunday, some of my players have to decided what gives – Sunday League or the season ticket? Not an easy one.
"We have a good team available and a new face in Eyal Tamir, We are also hoping for a major new signing this week but need to get that one over the line."
Jono Nesbitt, Avi Mocton and Gideon Barth excelled in Hendon’s first meeting with Fortune, and game in which they were far from their best but got the job done.
This is a big game for Hendon because they really need to press on now and I can see them getting the win they need.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C vs SCRABBLE FC
Raiders C are the latest team looking to end Scrabble’s 100 per cent league record, in the clash of the titans.
Zack Gothelf’s boys haven’t conceded in over 180 minutes and they will be looking to impress Scrabble boss Ray Abrahams again after he described Raiders as the “best team Scrabble have played this season".
That comment came after Scrabble’s hard-fought 3-1 win in December, which came courtesy of a double from Zak McLeod and one from Anthony Goodmaker.
Raiders have responded brilliantly since that defeat and David Domb is confident the sight of the league leaders will lift them.
He told JC Sport: “Just like previous meeting, there's a real sense of excitement for these games.
"We couldn't have reacted better to the last time we played Scrabble. Four games, four wins, two clean sheets - three of those victories coming in the league. It's fair to say we've recovered well.
"And the last time we played them, we gave them a sterner test than I think some of their boys imagined. That said, we were still beaten. But we know there was something for us there that day. That's given us the confidence to again, knowing we have what it takes to get a result.
"Their record might be impressive, not surprising with Peters, McLeod and Espinosa in their ranks, but we've little to fear. We know we can cause them problems. Let's see what happens.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Abrahams drafts in his big-match players – Josh Bentley and Tony Gold. He is determined to keep their perfect record intact but there will be parts of the game in which they will need to defend. But a back-line featuring Bentley, Gold and Ben Law would be hard to penetrate.
Scrabble are raring to go after a week's rest last Sunday when they had no game. The next two games will be important as Scrabble meet Raiders on Sunday and Lions a week later and hope to emerge with the wins that would take them within touching distance of the title.
Scrabble still have key players out injured but will look to their strength in depth as they hope to keep an unchanged team from their last game a 3-0 win over L'Equipe.
Manager Ray Abrahams told JC Sport: "The players have really scrapped for the points in the last few games and we will need to battle in the next two fixtures because Raiders and Lions are very good sides.
"If we can get a result on Sunday it will leave us needing just four points to go up so we need to be focused because Raiders are in the mix themselves to be promoted and we expect a tough game."
I can see Sunday producing an almighty battle, but can see Scrabble edging over the line in a contest that will undoubtedly be a great advert for the league.
JC team news: Jake Yudelowitz is nearing recovery but isn't yet fit enough, while Alex Elf and David Domb both miss out. Nick Haringman returns.
