JC GOAL OF THE WEEK: CONTENDERS

CHAIM KORMAN (Hendon United Sports) - GOAL 3 - great interplay saw the ball fall to Zack Lewis on the edge of the box, he scooped the ball over the defence to leave Chaim the tough job of lobbing the onrushing keeper. A task that he did with ease

NICK LEWIS (North London Raiders) - wait till you see this on the highlights. Absolute rocket, top bins, keeper didn’t even move

BENJI WEINBERGER (MLFC Blue) - a phenomenal solo effort, cutting in from the right, beating two men and then curling a beautiful shot cross goal into the top left-hand corner

SCOTT OLDSTEIN (Jewdinese) - an excellent one-two from Zack Collins and Zac Brin saw the former square for Oldstein whose first touch set the ball up nicely and his second touch was a sweetly struck right footed volley into the top corner

DAN COHEN (Brook Farm Rovers) - as Philippe Auret was tackled on the edge of the box, the ball popped back out to Cohen who opened his body up and whipped it top bins first time, keeper didn’t move. A proper worldie

ADAM HASSANALI (MLFC Red) - wonder strike against RJC

--------------------

JC SAVE OF THE WEEK: CONTENDERS

ZAC ROSE (NL GALAXY) - with his head! Just watch the video - class

SAMMY KINGSTON (HMH) - crucial save against Faithfold

GIDEON RABSTEIN (Faithfold DocMM White) - SAVE 1 - sensational double save. From 10 yards out the shot looked destined for bottom corner, Gideon flung himself to it and pushed it wide. The HMH player came sliding in and from a yard out, it flicked over the keeper, yet he managed somehow to put up a paw and bat it out despite being on the floor

GIDEON RABSTEIN (Faithfold DocMM White) - SAVE 2 - a drive from the edge of the area going top corner that Rabstein flew to and tipped wide with his leading hand

JOE BOTCHIN (Borussia Barnet) - stunning tripe save in under a minute for the only real spell of PSJ pressure in the game, one a 25 yard wonder strike tipped onto the post

BEN HALMER (Jewdinese) - back-pedalled to make an excellent save

ADAM GOLD (Jewdinese) - the ball fell to a Vale striker who had a completely open goal to aim at. He struck the ball towards goal but Gold made a truly sensational flying block to keep us in the lead. It really was extraordinary

SAUL GREEN (Club De Chigwell) - GOAL 1 - a brilliant header from a corner

SAUL GREEN (Club De Chigwell) - GOAL 2 - a nicely dinked chip leaving the keeper with no chance

STANLEY OFFORD (Club De Chigwell) - a powerful header from a corner

JC QUOTE OF THE WEEK: CONTENDERS

GIDEON GALE (North London Raiders) - "Not one for the neutral, and sorry to the JC cameras for having to watch that!"

AVI MARKIEWICZ (Faithfold DocMM White) - "It was good to have David Leiwy back, who lost his father two weeks ago. Danny Leiwy was a big part of the team, was at every match come rain or shine and we all miss him very much"

DAN COHEN (Brook Farm Rovers) - "In the end it was a comfortable victory but we were made to work hard for it by an improving Mincha, fresh from a  management change and several new players. "Good luck to them for the rest of the season"

JESSE ASKAR (Hampstead Ducks) - “The boys performed brilliantly today. We implemented a new system with a midfield diamond behind our two strikers, that worked well throughout. We were very solid defensively, particularly for 90 minutes, and our hard work forced Oakwood into making mistakes. I think it’s fair to say we gave a really good account of ourselves."

YOUR WEEKEND REVIEW STARTS HERE:

CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND ONE

OAKWOOD 5 HAMPSTEAD DUCKS 2 (AFTER EXTRA-TIME)

JOSH CUBY'S treble saved Oakwood's blushes, but they needed extra-time to see off second division Hampstead Ducks who produced an outstanding performance against the 2017 winners, at one point leading 2-1 after a double from Max LeverSam Modlin and Brad Wine scored Oakwood's other goals.

After clarification from David Wolf about whether the game should go to extra-time or penalties, another half an hour of football began. Oakwood dominated extra-time and despite brilliant Duck performances all round, Oakwood eventually ran out victors.

Co-manager Jesse Askar told JC Sport: “The boys performed brilliantly today. We implemented a new system with a midfield diamond behind our two strikers, that worked well throughout. We were very solid defensively, particularly for 90 minutes, and our hard work forced Oakwood into making mistakes. I think it’s fair to say we gave a really good account of ourselves."

DC Prediction: Oakwood 5 Ducks 0

JEWDINESE 3 HERTSWOOD VALE 1

Jewdinese won the all-Division One battle after seeing off Hertswood Vale 3-1.

'Nese went ahead through Zac Brin only for in-form Vale midfielder James Millet to equalise from a corner. But it was 'Nese who went on to win it. But goals from Scott Oldstein and Sam Stern settled the tie in 'Nese's favour.

'Nese boss Darren Lawrence told JC Sport: "Overall, we’re in the hat for the next round which is the most important thing. We dominated the second half but failed to score from some good opportunities. I know there is still so much more for us to give and am hoping that a run of consecutive games can give us the momentum we need. We look forward to kickstarting another cup run next week, where we will have a tough test against Maccabi London Blue.”

Vale joint-manager Jacob Emanuel told JC Sport: "Today was a really frustrating game, party because of the awful weather in the second half. Jewdinese are a really good team, and they play an excellent passing game, but we more than matched them throughout, and Danny [Hirschberger] and I feel that on another day, the result would’ve been very different."

DC Prediction: Nese 2 Vale 1

PREM DIV TEAM OF THE WEEK

FAIRLOP FC 2 MACCABI LONDON FC BLUE 2

A penalty from Brad Gayer and a goal from James Jaconelli earned Fairlop FC their first point of the season after they shared the points with MLFC Blue in a 2-2 draw at 7 Kings. Benji Weinberger scored both goals for MLFC.

Fairlop assistant-manager Jake Sanders told JC Sport: "I am frustrated not to be sitting here with our first three points of the campaign. But in truth, it was a game of two halves. In the first, we were pathetic and deservedly found ourselves 0-2 down, but after the hairdryer treatment from myself and Aaron Dias at the break, we turned it around and showed heart and a bit of fight that was lacking in the first and probably deserved to win the game."

MLFC player-manager Max Kyte told JC Sport: "The game could have gone either way and the result was probably fair on balance."

HMH 0 FAITHFOLD DOCMM WHITE 0

Defences dominated at the Hive as HMH failed to break down a well-organised Faithfold defence in a rare goalless draw.

HMH boss Avi Goldberg told JC Sport: “What a superb first-half performance. We did everything right except find the back of the net. Instead we found a man mountain in the form of their goalkeeper. This game should have been well over within 30 minutes as we pounded them with some exhilarating football. The second half was much more even and an entertaining contest even if clear-cut chances were much fewer."

Faithfold manager Avi Markiewicz told JC Sport: "We worked really hard as a team and for each other for this result. It was built on the defence. It was a tough affair but I always enjoy the games against HMH who are a very good outfit and have an excellent manager with an even better name!"

CAMDEN PARK 1 HENDON UNITED SPORTS 4

CHAIM KORMAN scored three times as Hendon United returned to winning ways as they sealed their third consecutive league win in a 4-1 triumph over Camden Park. Zack Lewis had opened the scoring with an expertly-taken free-kick.

Hendon player-manager Jordan Sapler told JC Sport: "Today was a tough game that we deserve a huge amount of credit for winning. there was a lot that went against us today. "A good performance in a game where a slip-us was a real chance."

Dan Orgel scored Camden's consolation via the penalty spot when they were 0-4 down.

DIVISION 1 TEAM OF THE WEEK

NORTH LONDON GALAXY 1 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS 1

It finished 1-1 in east Barnet as the first North London derby of the season finished all square, meaning Galaxy and Raiders sit alongside one another with ten points from four matches. Nick Lewis scored with a stunning goal for Raiders, while the Galaxy equalised through a Josh Bloom own goal.

Raiders joint-manager Gideon Gale told JC Sport: "It was a very scrappy game and it really was that lack of quality that cost us the three points. When you play on a pitch fit for a group of eight-year-olds it’s difficult to get into your flow and rhythm. Credit to the boys who dug in, especially when reduced to 10 men."

Galaxy boss Luke Lewis told JC Sport: "It was a good game between the two strongest teams in the league. Could’ve gone either way but a draw was probably the fair result in the end."

MACCABI LONDON FC RED 4 REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE 4

Game of the day came at Rowley Lane where MLFC Red and Redbridge Jewish Care shared the points after an eight-goal thriller at Rowley Lane.

Niv Gur and Daniel Wexler bagged braces for RJC, while Scott Gordon (2), Adam Hassanali and Jamie Jackson were on target for MLFC.

RJC assistant-boss David Castle felt "RJC had done enough for the three points, but a great game of football in testing conditions. The boys are disappointed not to be coming away with three points, but we are growing as a team".

MILL HILL DONS 3 SPEC FC 6

SPEC FC got their promotion bid back on track in style as they hit the Dons for six in St. Albans, with strikes from Richard Winton (2), Ricky Lawrence, Laurence Rosenthal, Mark Leader and an own goal.

Dons' top-scorer ZACH COHEN scored a hat-trick for the home side but it proved to be in vain.

SPEC player-manager Ricky Lawrence told JC Sport: “Credit to MH Dons for pegging us back from being 3-0 down. In the last half hour though, we went up a gear and while a three-goal margin may be a tad harsh, we did enough to deserve the win.”

Richard Salmon (2), Josh Morris and David Cohen completed the scoring for FC Team. Motty Herzog scored Faithfold's consolation.

Victorious boss Mitch Young told JC Sport: "It was a routine victory where we didn’t get out of third gear. Not much to write about we could have scored ten. I expect the players to apply themselves better no matter who the opposition are."

DC Prediction: Faithfold 1 Team 4

SCRABBLE 1 TEMPLE FORTUNE 5

DANNY SHERMAN's hat-trick ensured Temple Fortune extended their winning run to four matches, and this was arguably their most satisfying, as they put Scrabble to the sword 5-1.

Simon Cohen maintained his excellent goal-scoring form with another for Fortune, who also benefitted from an own goal.

Scrabble's consolation came via Andy Miller.

Fortune boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "I'm pleased with the three points and fourth straight wins which sends us into the FC Team game in two weeks with confidence."
