Meet the teams: Oakwood A

articlemain

With treble-winning boss Dan Kristall joining Ric Blank and Alex Schock in a new-look managerial set-up, Oakwood A go into the season all guns blazing. And they are confident their summer additions will deliver.

COMPETITIONS ENTERED: The MSFL, the Anekstein and the Morrison

HOPES FOR SEASON: We feel that with the personnel that we have added and are still in the process of adding, we have an excellent chance of competing in all competitions. We would love a couple of cup runs and will be going for a big run in the Peter Morrison. We’d also love a trip up north to come up against some of our former teams.

SQUAD ADDITIONS: Kyle Bentwood from London Lions – a leader can play centre half and centre-mid. Very highly-rated.
Sam Cantor signed from South Manchester – tall centre forward who looks good in the air and with the ball at his feet.
Dan Seligman - former Leeds Maccabi skilful winger with great potential. Can beat a man and can thread a ball. Again he joins us highly rated. Dale Bradman from Boca Jewniors – good old fashioned CB. Stood out in Raiders friendly in July. Good addition for the 15/16 season. Mark Korn – Ex-Leeds, raided my old club for his signing on a Free transfer after he picked up the treble last season. Jonny Blain – new keeper, highly-rated

WHICH OF THE SIGNINGS EXCITES YOU MOST? They all do. Seligman will give us some creativity as he is excellent on the ball, Cantor will give us a focal point although we have to keep him fit and Kyle could be the marquee signing from Lions. An excellent defensive player that will either play with or sit just in front of the back four.

PLAYERS OUT: Not many generally the same squad as last season plus the new signings.

ONES TO WATCH: Dave Woolman - known for his pace and goals. Leading-scorer last term. Brad Wine known for his pace, commitment and strength. Adam Levine – the captain and leader of the side. Very strong at the back. Guy Helman – can walk past any player in his way. Very good with the ball at this feet. Simon Davies – calm on the ball, effortless in his play. A good ball winner and can spot a pass. Plus new signings as mentioned.

MAIN CHALLENGERS: Hendon, Raiders, Redbridge and we’ll have our eye on a newly reformed Lions team as well as the promoted sides.

WHAT WILL YOUR TEAM BRING TO THE LEAGUE THIS SEASON? We will hopefully be one of the teams to beat in the league… Difficult to break down and plenty of pace/strength in the forward position. We are aiming to improve on last year’s league position and we believe that we’re a match for anyone on our day. The aim for the season is to pick up some silverware. But we know that the key to success at this level is to stay injury free and keep the nucleus of the team each week. All the top sides at any level have a consistent squad that they work with every week, keeping the turnover of players to a minimum. We feel that after a good pre-season and with the squad that we have, we’re ready for the forthcoming season.

CAPTAIN: Adam Levine will continue to captain the side.

HOME GROUND: Nicholas Breakspear School
