The search to find players to make up a Junior Girls football team to the 20th Maccabiah Games in 2017 has begun in earnest.
Maccabi GB has taken immediate action to ensure that Great Britain has a stronger chance of competing by holding an open football training session for young, female footballers within the community.
The session, to be held on January 31 at Rowley Lane at 5pm, will give players born between 1/1/99 and 31/12/02 the chance to exhibit their skills and put their chances forward for Israel and, potentially, future international Maccabi tournaments.
Team GB’s General Team Manager Joel Nathan said: "We have seen over the last few months – through Maccabi GB’s multi School Sports tournaments and Girls football development sessions – that the sport is extremely popular for our Community’s young, female players.
"We want to take this enthusiasm and use it as a catalyst to create something really special for the future.
"To see a Junior Girls Football team competing on the world’s stage would be something Anglo-Jewry can all get behind and be proud of.
"Any girls who are keen to play for their country and Community should turn up on the day, free of charge, with their kit."
