London Lions’ title hopes were given a major boost on Tuesday night when they moved to within two points of top spot after thumping Bovingdon 5-0 in the Herts Senior County League Premier Division.
Goals from top-scorer Adam Stolerman (2), James Gershfield (2) and David Soutar saw them close the gap on Wormley Rovers who were beaten 1-0 by the Met Police.
Tony Gold’s men, who have two games in hand on Rovers, were further boosted by news that title rivals Baldock Town Letchworth were deducted three points for fielding a suspended player in the 5-0 win over Codicote March 13.
