Liverpool have today dismissed reports that Israel midfielder Yossi Benayoun will join Dynamo Moscow.
The Russian club have made a £7 million offer for Benayoun and are understood to be offering him a three-year contract, with the option of a fourth year, on terms of about £40,000 a week.
And although Dynamo claim that they agreed personal terms Benayoun’s agent, a Liverpool spokesman confirmed: “The player is not for sale, it's as simple as that.”
Speculation comes six days before the transfer window closes. Benayoun, who is currently nursing a broken rib, has been a regular for the Reds this season, scoring five goals in 20 matches.
Earlier, Dynamo sporting director Konstantin Sarsania said: “It is true that we have come to an agreement with the player’s agent. In the next two days, Liverpool will make their own decision.
“Liverpool coach is against losing Benayoun, but the decision is not his, it is for the club's directors.”
Benyaoun’s agent, Ronen Katsav, declined to comment.
