London Maccabi Lions’ brave run in the London Masters Veterans Cup was halted at the quarter-finals stage after putting up a fine show against an Interwood Vets side including a number of ex-professionals.
Lining up against former Reading star Michael Gilkes and Andy Clarke, the ex-Barnet, Wimbledon winger, the Lions settled well into their stride against well drilled opponents.
Max Radford and sub Adam Brand put the Lions 2-0 ahead in a contest where Adam Lee and Tony Gold caught the eye early on. Interwood poured forward in the second half. Gilkes bagged a brace as the visitors scored four times as the Lions tired.
