Lions edged out in five-goal thriller by Wodson Park

Andy Landesberg expressed frustration as London Lions’ poor start to the Spartan South Midlands League Division One season continued as they were beaten 3-2 by Wodson Park.

Two goals from Jake Furman could not save the Lions, who suffered their third consecutive defeat.

“Our performance was shameful,” said Landesberg. “Whilst taking the lead twice, we still showed a lack of fight and determination to win the game.

“There were too many players not performing anywhere near their best. Although we had a number of youngsters in the squad, and were missing 16 players from the squad, that was no excuse.

“We had enough ability, quality and experience out there to take the three points, the problem was very few players performed on the day.”
