Lions complete WFL hat-trick of titles

articlemain

Maccabi London Lions White were crowned champions for the third consecutive year after lifting the Watford Friendly League Red Division title.

Having won the respective WFL U9 and U10 championships, the Lions won the league in style, losing only three matches in their 20-game campaign, to run out victors by a seven-point margin.

Manager Nigel Burns, who is Director of Youth Football at the club, and his assistant, Joel Phillips, expressed "pride" with the achievement of the players.

Burns said: "This has been a team effort and it’s richly deserved. As the boys get older the games tend to get more physical, but we try and get the boys to play football the right way."

The Lions will be looking to complete the double as they prepare for a cup final on May 20.

Squad:
Scott Leslie
Ben Werter
Moshi Benaim
Brandon Roach
Sam Goldberg
Oli Kaye
Oliver White
Joe Abrahams

Jason Burns
Dylan Phillips
