Lederman and Henry see LMV 2nd home

articlemain

London Maccabi Vale 2nd XI continued their excellent run of form with a six-wicket victory over Woodford Green.

With neither captain having a coin to hand, the toss was completed using a Tesco clubcard. Skipper for the day Leders Snr call "barcode" correctly and decided to ask WG to bat first.

WG were soon 3-3 as both opening bowlers Josh Brickman and Morris struck early. A partial recovery by WG took them to 100-9, however their no. 10 then hit a rapid 46 not out to take them to 149 all out.

Some loose bowling and sloppy fielding at the end meant LMV were chasing a much larger total than they would have liked, on a pitch that was "tired" having already had three matches on it over the weekend.

Mentions to LMV's three elder statesmen today - Michael Ziff, Jeff Permutt and Terry Hyman - who all bowled well.

Spanjar and Harris opened the batting and were seemingly untroubled putting on 43, until Harris (22) got frustrated and tried an extravagant drive but only succeeded in edging the ball into his stumps.

Permutt came and went quickly and Spanjar (20) having looked in no trouble at all, lobbed a long hop to point. Zack Frey heaved at one and all of a sudden they were 79-4, but with plenty of overs remaining.

With the bounce getting lower and lower, WG's score was looking better with every over bowled. However, there was no more success for the WG bowlers, as Josh Henry (14*) and Leders Snr (45*) came together and put on a stand of 71, batting very circumspectly and taking no chances,to see us home with six overs left.
