Kashket targets top-scorer prize

Scott Kashket says he will not get carried away after his man-of-the-match performance propelled Wycombe Wanderers to third place in League One.

Kashket, 23, had been forced to bide his time on the bench until last weekend’s clash against Southend United but he repaid the faith of his manager Gareth Ainsworth with a match-winning double.

Making his first start of the season, Kashket opened his account on 55 minutes to make it 2-2 before converting an injury-time winner to earn Wycombe a 4-3 victory.

Kashket said: “I hadn’t played many minutes in the league before now, so today was also about letting the gaffer know I’m here and ready to play.

“I like to base my game around goals, getting in the right positions and always backing myself to score. I’m very happy about getting two today.

“Finishing top-scorer is always my plan and I will always back myself, but I’m not going to get carried away.”
