Henen keeps Boca alive

articlemain

A late strike from Trevor Henen ensured that Montana Boca United As battle against the drop goes to the last game as they kept North West Neasden As title celebrations on ice with a hard earned point.

Gary Cohen gave Montana a shock lead in the JC MSFL Premier Division clash only for a goal in each half from Daniel Levenfiche and captain Lee Cash to put NWN within minutes of retaining the title.

But a cool finish from Henen into the roof of the net left NWN ruing a series of missed chances.

NWN joint-manager Jamie Cole said: “We did not turn up. It was a poor display right through the team and management. We now need a point from our remaining two league games to clinch the title.”

Montana joint-manager Elan Ovits said: “We deserved our point and with a bit more luck we could have even nicked the victory, but when you’re playing the best Jewish club in the country, a point feels like three points.

“One final game next week and we might achieve the greatest ‘escape to victory’ in the league’s history.”

London Maccabi Lions A went fourth after claiming a double-header win over Hendon United A. Michael Pearson, David Rose and Aviel Schwarz helped them wrap up a 4-0 success in the opener. Pearson and Rob Glass struck in part two as Lions ran out 2-1 winners.

Lee Levinson (2), Wesley Matthews and an own goal helped Camden Park finish sixth in Division One following a 4-1 victory over North West Neasden B.

Camden manager Justin Rockberger commented: “We saved the best until last.”
