Daniel De Ridder is expected to make his debut for Hapoel Tel Aviv on Monday in the top of the table clash at Maccabi Haifa after sealing a six-month loan deal from Wigan.
The 25-year-old Dutchman has moved to Israel until the end of the season in a deal worth £180,000.
Celta Vigo, his former club, were also interested but the winger was not keen about playing in the Spanish second division.
De Ridder, who holds an Israeli passport, said: “If I want to play this season, a move looks to be the right solution. I’d love to play for Hapoel although I still see my longer term future back in England.”
De Ridder has not featured in the Wigan team this season, since Roberto Martinez took over from Steve Bruce as manager
Roni Porokara’s move to Maccabi Haifa collapsed due to salary demands.
