Team GB Tenpin Bowling have named its strongest ever team to participate in the Maccabiah Games.

Following a demanding six-month selection process, brothers Paul and Michael Loberman led the averages with 217 and 211 respectively and look set to lead the medal charge.

The squad includes Gary Ellis, the five-medal star of the 2007 European Maccabi Games in Rome, as well as former Maccabiah participants Ian Davis, Jack Nesbit and Tony Sharpstone.

Team manager Matthew Plax said: “Preparation and a good team ethic is absolutely vital to success in Israel. The months running up to the Maccabiah will see the team competing at the British Nationals in Romford as well as two other national events in Poole and Sheffield. The dedication shown by all the guys has been superb and they will all be travelling to Israel with a winning mentality.”

The squad: Paul Loberman, Michael Loberman, Gary Ellis, Ian Davis, Jack Nesbit, Tony Sharpstone. Reserves: Ricky Cohen, Darren Sassienie. Manager: Matthew Plax
