Stuart McCall is hoping for a big favour from former manager Walter Smith in his bid to sign Rangers midfielder Dean Furman on a permanent basis.
Furman, who was named Most Consistent Player, spent the season on loan at Valley Parade and the Bradford manager wants to keep him, but Rangers could demand a compensation fee that the Yorkshire club cannot afford as the South African is only 20.
McCall said: “I know Rangers are offering him a new deal, but at this moment in time it’s not guaranteed he’s going to accept it.
“I’ve spoken to his agent and in principle put an offer to him. We would love to have Deano back and I know how much he enjoyed playing for us last season.”
