Final joy for JFS, and more could follow

articlemain

JFS has seen a recent surge in success, with four of their six teams qualifying for the Brent final in the extremely competitive footballing borough.

Notably, the 1st XI have not only earned a chance at the Brent title but also a shot at a league and cup double as they prepare for their Middlesex Cup final in mid-April.

The Year 10 squad were the first team to take to their chance against Preston Manor High School at the neutral venue of Capital City Academy.

JFS stormed into an early 4-0 lead with strikes from Jared Rand, Jordan Green, Rory Carlson and Harry Russell in what turned out to be a free-scoring first half.

Preston Manor were equally enthusiastic in attack as two goalline clearances were followed by a converted free kick and a missed penalty leaving the score 4-1 at half time.

The second period proved a dramatic affair as Preston Manor scored two more within the first 10 minutes. But a double salvo from Sam Shackleton gave JFS breathing space with a 6-3 advantage.

Preston Manor came back once again to reduce the deficit, but a late strike from Joe Bellman secured the borough title for JFS.

With Year 7, Year 9 and the 1st XI’s two upcoming finals, this could become one of JFS’s most successful football seasons to date.

JFS Year 10 squad: Ben Karbaron, Adam Russell, Yoav Wynne, Benji Cowen, Sam Martin, Joe Bellman, Rory Carlson, Jordan Green (capt), Raphi Auret, Harry Russell, Sam Shackleton, Ross Leon, Jared Rand, Oscar Cohen
