Team Maccabi GB win 15 medals on a memorable day at the 14th European Maccabi Games in Berlin, where the delegation competed in Swimming, Badminton, Junior Football, Junior Futsal, Open Futsal and Tennis on Day 2.
SWIMMING
Sir Trevor Pears won Team Maccabi GB’s first gold of the European Maccabi Games in Berlin on day one of the swimming competition.
Having also medalled in Vienna in 2011, Sir Trevor, who also won silver, competed in six events, completing the 50m butterfly in a PB of 32.8 seconds followed by 37.3 seconds in the 50m backstroke. He finished first in the 50m fly.
Sir Trevor said: “I’m delighted to have won a medal and am very proud to be competing in Berlin.
“Overall I’m pleased with my times which were almost identical to my performances in Vienna."

TEN PIN BOWLING
Russell Snipper won bronze in the Singles event.
There was a fifth place finish for Craig Grant, with Richard Da Costa a place behind. Brad Mervish came home in 10th, with Russell Shear 12th.

OPEN FOOTBALL- GB 4 ITALY 1
Two goals from Yoav Kestenbaum helped GB come from behind to claim their first victory of the tournament with a 4-1 destruction of Italy.
Italy forged ahead inside the first five minutes when a curling free-kick went in off the post.
Having hit the bar in the first half, Louie Basso hauled GB back on level terms with a glancing header.
Kestenbaum put GB ahead with a drilled finish into the bottom corner a minute later. Joe Sharpe made it 3-1 with a delicious strike direct from a corner before Kestenbaum netted again.
Italy's misery was compounded by two late red cards.

Penalties from Adam Burchell and Adam Ellis plus one from Ben Rodol earned GB an impressive victory in their opening match against USA.

A deadly double from skipper George Leigh earned GB a hard-earned 2-1 victory over Argentina.

TENNIS
Three of the boys progressed to the quarter finals of the singles competition, with strong performances from Oliver Jacobson and Samuel Abrahams in particular.
The girls put up a strong fight in their respective matches, but were ultimately defeated by older and more experienced opposition from the United States and Germany.
Nonetheless, coach James Vaughan remains upbeat: “Despite some tough opposition, all the juniors represented Great Britain with pride and greatly enjoyed the experience.

GB 4 SPAIN 1 Danny Stapleton bagged a brace as Adam Lustigman's boys made a dream start against Spain. Maxim Green and Aaron Diamond as the GB youngsters set themselves up nicely for the rest of the competition.
