WATFORD FRIENDLY LEAGUE UNDER NINE SPRING SHIELD CUP
BRADY MACCABI REDS 3 FINCHLEY REVOLUTION 2 AET
Brady's challenge for a remarkable league and cup double in their first season in the Watford Friendly League continues with yet another five-star performance with a thrilling 3 -2 Spring Shield Cup semi-final victory over Finchley Revolution.
Brady are also top of the WFL Green Division and need two points from their remaining three matches to secure the league title.
Brady played the first half of the cup semi-final against a strong head-wind and found themselves two goals down at half time against a very skilful Finchley team that had scored 16 goals in their two previous cup rounds. It was only excellent goalkeeping from Sam Meisel and brave defending from Ben Tibber and Jordan Smith that kept Brady in the match.
However, the game changed from the start of the second half as with the wind in their favour, Brady pressed hard for a goal. And after slick passing from Freddie Martin, Jamie Baum and Benjy Randall, Ben Barnett hit a well-placed shot into the corner to kickstart Brady's comeback.
Jacob Brand scored the equaliser in the closing stages of normal time with a superb long-range free-kick.
The match went to extra time and Daniel Dutch scored the match winner from a corner when he outjumped several Finchley defenders to coolly head the ball into the net to secure a place for Brady in the final.
