Danny Caro's Monthly awards: October

articlemain

No-one in the MGBSFL performed better than James Gershfield who was my star player in October.

Gersh’s goals and attitude have given Harmen a huge lift this season, as well as belief that there could be silverware awaiting them at the end of the season – the Premier Division, Morrison and Anekstein are realistic targets given their revamped squad, with Mike Pearson the latest addition.

Harmen joint-manager Joel Alterman was in full agreement with my decision. “For me, there would be no other contender,” he told JC Sport.

Gersh registered nine goals in four games in October and Alterman went on to say: “That says it all about Gersh. Since taking over the captain’s armband, he has led the team by example. Not only is he a natural finisher, he encourages everyone around him to raise their game.

“Whether it’s against the top of the Prem or the bottom of Division Three, Gersh has given 100 per cent to the cause and you know a goal is never far away when he’s on the pitch.”

Harmen’s win over Raiders came just too late (November), so sway the judges, much to the relief of Rob Richman, who scoops the JC’s top boss award.

Jake Gilbert edged out Camden Park hotshot Rob Hershkorn to the top player award in Division One. The NLR B hotshot has been in stunning form, with a couple of hat-tricks in October. But there’s joy for Camden, with Nick Kagan receiving the top boss accolade.

Adam Stolerman was the star man in Division Two. He’s averaging more than a goal a game, and his manager, David Gordon, is another winner.

King Crown cleaned up in Division Three, with Adam Nusenbaum rewarded for a string of excellent performances, and gaffer Jacob Kadoch for leading his team through another month unbeaten in the league.
